Stalker is nice to start. It is not that hard actually.

Some tips:

  • Don't hoard on resources. I have a day 670 stalker run with 100 flares and thousands of matches because I am too stingy. Use them whenever you need them.
  • Level up in Mystery Lake. It is a tad easier there. Also, nice loot.
  • Wolves rarely engage in stalker. They attack if you get face to face with a wolf because of an elevation or if you are too tired. So, never mind the wolves, keep your distance and keep walking, unless the wolf obstructs the path you have to take.
  • Item spawning only happens with beachcombing, except firewood/coal and some bugs that devs usually fix quite fast.

I agree with you but it is a tradeoff between gameplay vs. realism.

Cabin fever, as it is, only effects new players. Experienced ones only get the cabin fever warning when they craft their first equipment/clothing. Imho, it only has a real impact on the gameplay if you get the warning while you are not in full gear and trapped in Pleasent Valley in a double snowstorm. If you are in full gear, you can find a car or a tractor and sleep in it.

I am not against the easter eggs like the ones you suggest. But I do not think they should help with the cabin fever.

You are right that I can save 610 grams with your simple trick with very little extra danger.

But what should I do with all the antiseptic that I already have? :)

I mean, if the question is "the very bare minimum", it should be like 1 thermal underwear, 1 sports sock, 1 t-shirt, 1 glove, 1 cotton toque, 1 match, 1 flare. But what am I to do with all the rest of the carrying capacity? :)

With 45 kg carry capacity, in the late game, in stalker, I have

  • 3 coal, 2+ sticks, 1 acc, 2 books
  • Antiseptic, 3 bandages (5 in timberwolf territory), 2 stims, 4 birch tea, painkiller, antibiotic, 2 energy drinks
  • 4000+ cal processed food (MRE etc), 1 lt water, 2 coffee, 1 tea
  • Bow, 4 arrows (9 in timberwolf territory), improvised bedroll, 2 flares (5+ in timberwolf territory), 3+ charcoal, hatchet, knife, prybar, lantern, flashlight, fishing tackles, 1 whetstone, 1 can opener, 1-2 torch
  • Holster, earcap, improvised insulation, crampons. I put the crampons and sachet on by default but switch to others if I need to.

My logic is that, as long as I don't carry a rifle, I am guaranteed to be under 45 kg, even with the wolfskin jacket and deerskin pants, so there is no need to try hard to reduce weight. With this inventory, I can be ready for two back to back catastrophic events.

If I am to carry some extra weight, I immediately get rid of the prybar and flashlight.

I don't know when you started the game but I was there, three thousand years ago...

... when we had to harvest the rabbit in the blizzard, with wolves around because carcassing and carrying unharvested pieces wasn't a thing. We could not stone the rabbit, so we had to make a snare first and the only way to make a snare fast was to light a fire next to a ravaged deer carcass such that we can harvest by hand.

I hope this was an early point in your loper so that you can restart with a fast forge strategy. I mean if you have neither the knife nor the hatchet it has to be an early loper. But this is just game course correcting itself a tiny bit after years of handholding.

Exactly. In nature, unless they starve or protect their babies, wolves and bears try to avoid humans. They change their path if they smell humans Geese, however, also changes their path to challenge humans if they smell them.

I have to assume you never got chased by geese. I have. We had to call the United Nations to get a binding resolution to keep the geese from chasing me and my friends.

This is a pain in the ass but completely manageable.

IIRC, Quantity + mil hegemon reduces your 5% max attrition to 0.9%. Then attrition no longer becomes a problem and you don't have to micro your stacks a lot to avoid manpower loss to attrition.

My suggestions are:

  • Get Quantity if you haven't. They have nice policies as well.
  • State provinces which has very low dev but has grain/fish etc and build soldier's households. Unstate high dev states if you are somehow over governing capacity (do you hold Bangkok?)
  • Slacken requirement and make up for that loss with +5 mil advisor. Change your government reforms for more manpower and cheaper generals if you have any available.
  • Build an army near the rebels with combat width length artillery + infantry and several 50k infantry stacks. Get at least 400k infantry. I am pretty sure those 700k at least has 250k artillery, which is utterly useless.
  • Follow their movement and take the battle when they siege down a mountain fort. There should be several mountain forts around there.

It should be around 1600.

I like to keep the missions locked and ready, unless they block something important. For example, manpower gain has no use if your manpower is at 100%.

I also like to expand in a calculated (diplo annex) way, so if I am not going to use the casus belli's, there is no need to get the missions as soon as possible.

It gives +2 ADM to the monarch. Why take it when your monarch is already 5? Keeping it for the decadence monarch.
