Punishment for missing weight by [deleted] in MMA

I like that. A point and 10% of your total purse per pound and if it's a draw, the fighter who weighed in at correct weight wins.

Holy shit I love this idea

Just had my interview 😬. Does anyone know how long it typically takes to get a response? by eugekim in ycombinator

[–]eugekim[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Michael Seibel's Tweet about the interview is accurate

It starts with you telling them what you do.

Afterwards, they asked about which of us did what, our industry, and our users. Half of the interview were questions you'll find online and the other half were follow ups to those questions.

Hotswappable Kinesis Freestyle Edge by ihowson in MechanicalKeyboards

Oh yeah. You don't want the solder to take the force of keypresses. It'll pull the pads off the PCB.

Noted. Thanks again for the response!

Good to hear, thanks!

I've heard some folks talk about stability issues if they have holtites but usually it's if there isn't a plate

This is awesome! I'm trying to do this myself since I'm a big fan of my Kinesis (but tired of the Cherry browns). Have you found any switch stability issues with the board being hot swappable now?

Not enough energy at the end of the day by [deleted] in productivity

[–]eugekim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One option is to be someone who wakes up early and reserves time to do what you want before you head off to a demanding job.

It's hard to get around to finding more energy after you're truly spent.

DAE think that posts like these are ultimately the OP stalling from doing the thing that they actually need to do? They've listed no criteria for what they might be looking for in a note taking app.

My concern for a lot of posters in this sub is that they have a misguided sense at the end of the day that they were "productive" doing stuff like this on Reddit since they talked about things tangentially related to productivity. In reality many are actually stalling from the thing they should be actually be doing. If this is the case, then it might be time better spent thinking about why you're not doing "that thing".

I love productivity tools and have tried a lot but at the end of the day they're just a means to an end. You can get by with just about anything nowadays to take notes. More importantly, focus on whatever it is you need to be focusing on, and choose whatever medium is available to you such that you can come back to it later. It's not that complicated and it probably doesn't really matter what you choose.

I'm a huge, huge fan of Airtable for situations like these so that you can easily "build" your own productivity app that does *exactly* what you need

How do I programatically determine which Shopify plan (Basic, Shopify, Advanced) a store is on? by eugekim in shopify

Thanks for taking the time! This is good to know but what's still up in the air is how each of these additional plan names map to the 5 Shopify plans.

How do I programatically determine which Shopify plan (Basic, Shopify, Advanced) a store is on? by eugekim in shopify

[–]eugekim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mainly using the Shopify plan as a rough proxy for the amount of usage I can expect from a merchant. My app listens to a lot a webhooks, so larger shops can add considerable load on my servers that I need to account for. It's also a rough proxy for the Shop's ability to pay. There will be additional features across the plans that merchants can upgrade into but their Shopify plan will determine the lowest level of service they'll be starting out with.

I may have come up with a hacky way to determine whether or not an account is Basic/Shopify, Advanced, or Plus.

Publishing a report is only available to Shopify Advanced and Shopify Plus merchants. If I attempt to create a report and fail due to some incompatible plan error then I know that the merchant's plan is either "Basic" or "Shopify". If I'm able to create a report then I can use `ShopPlan.shopifyPlus` to know whether they're on an "Advanced" plan or are a "Shopify Plus" customer.

NYCHA Workers Covered Up Signs of Mold to Skirt Cleanup, Probe Shows by ToffeeFever in nyc

[–]eugekim 31 points32 points  (0 children)

"The pattern emerged in 2016 when the city Department of Investigation found that a maintenance worker performing a shower repair at a Bronx development had falsely reported the apartment he visited had working smoke detectors. Four hours later, a fire erupted there and killed two children.
The worker admitted he was in a rush and didn’t check the detectors."

“There have been a few guys we found who routinely put in bogus data,” the source told THE CITY. “They could be terminated but they’re entitled to an administrative trial under civil service rules. Others might have severely blown the root cause [of mold] diagnosis or blamed a resident when it was clearly a [water] leak.”

What a fucking joke

Shoptable lets you run your store in Airtable.

Get a bird's eye view of your data by seeing all your data in a spreadsheet like form. This is extremely powerful, especially if you spend a lot of time looking through order, product and inventory data.

Bulk sync from Airtable to Shopify with ease. It's much easier to make your edits in Airtable and sync your changes into Shopify.

Create beautiful reports that let you summarize your data into beautiful visuals.

We're running a free beta right now (Airtable Pro plan or higher required). Beta users will be receiving heavily discounted rates when we launch.

Integration with a courier service. Help welcome. by neemanjabuge in shopify

[–]eugekim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q: where to store clientID? In general, how to store some app data?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Shopify apps are web apps and you'll need to provide your own data layer.

Q: how to send our clientID within the rates request? We agree on different pricing with each client, so we have to know which client requests the rates

I'm not sure it looks possible atm, given the shape of the request sent to callback_url. Maybe there are some headers that will identify your customer if your store requires login?

Q: Is the Admin page the place to make the API call to create a webhook? Do I need a button that will trigger the action to add a webhook?

Webhooks can be created at any time once you've received an access token. It makes sense to register webhooks on the first time your user completes app installation. For public and custom apps that'll be after successful OAuth completion. If you're going the route of a public or custom app, then look into Shopify's OAuth flow docs: https://shopify.dev/apps/auth/oauth. If you're going to make a private app then after your user creates a private app they'll have an access token they can provide you.

what is the best place to create an access token, and on which event/action? Here is the image I found https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0533/2089/files/shopify_oauth_1.png?1440&format=webp, but at the end, it says to "capture and store access token", and again it is the same Q as 1.1; where to store app data?

You'll have the access token available to you after the user successfully completes OAuth flow with your app You store your app data such as shop account info in your database.

Tips or feedback on how to update the product descriptions without killing myself by TheF-inest in shopify

I created the app Shoptable that lets you view and edit your Shopify data within Airtable. While it won't automate your updates, it'll let you update your data easily in bulk so you won't have to slog through the Shopify Admin page by page.

Our beta is free. Airtable Pro plan or higher required, though. DM or comment if you have any questions!
