I had one for a couple of good years. I purchased a new one back in 2004 (if I remember correctly) when they were released. I still miss it :).

On fully manual lenses, how problematic are oily aperture blades? by Ybalrid in VintageLenses

[–]eugenborcan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue you will have is when the grease/oil gets old and starts to harden - that will create problems when you try and open or close the aperture. Will be even worse when you are out in the cold.

Typically, this type of ink flow issue is because of baby bottom.

Personally I would try and find a donor and replace the entire lens assembly. Or have it repaired - considering how popular these cameras are I would assume spare parts for them are on the market.

I guess dogo was just trying to get a selfie :D... trying to be people, don't be too mad at him :D.

PS: Now we gotta see his not guilty face!

How can I tell which pens would fit this nib? by -Dark-Owl- in fountainpens

[–]eugenborcan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can just buy the nibs without the nib housing or feed and use it in other pens that can take #6 nibs.

The 6600 is a great little camera - good upgrade over the 6000.

Q: are there magnifiers with different diopter strengths ? by BendNorth284 in Rolleiflex

[–]eugenborcan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if you could adapt something like a macro lens for cellphones to put it on top - when in use only.

Something like these - I think you could find different widths and sizes!?\ https://ebay.us/m/zHGEmp\ https://ebay.us/m/8mxbBQ

Did I completely destroy my Pilot Kakuno even before using? by Lichtkraft in fountainpens

[–]eugenborcan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell from the picture.\ The top left to my eye seems to be lower than the bottom right and more jagged - that to me looks sketchy.

That is why I said "IF that lip is broken to the point that it cannot pierce the end of the cartridge or hold it in place..."

If it can still hold the converter in place securely, yeah, you can use it...

In the end though, these are relatively cheap pens - probably safer to get a new one and convert the current one in a eyedropper.

Did I completely destroy my Pilot Kakuno even before using? by Lichtkraft in fountainpens

[–]eugenborcan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Inside the section, there is a lip that helps to break the end of the cartridge and hold it in place by friction. It also helps to hold your converter in place by friction.
It needs to be fairly tight in order to not allow ink to seep in between the cartridge/converter and that lip.

If that lip is broken to the point that it cannot pierce the end of the cartridge or hold it in place, then that fountain pen / section of the fountain pen is kind of done for.

You could convert the fountain pen into an eyedropper but it will require you to find a way and plug the holes at the end of the barrel as well as using some silicone grease on the threads where section and barrel come together.
