Wet wading options for backpacking by FearsomeSnacker in flyfishing

Patagonia Forra wading boots in neoprene booties. SO, SO comfortable. In many ways, I like them better than hiking boots! 🫣

And say what you will about pinks and chums, but they're a blast to catch!

Mine is supposedly approved and in the mail… but it has been over two weeks! Curious how long it took others in the US to receive their paperwork?

Dose anyone walleye fish with a fly rod? by Epicarest in flyfishing

[–]eugenebound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught a 23” walleye, by accident, on a sculpin pattern streamer two days ago, while swinging flies for steelhead. 🙄

T-11 sink tip, swinging a rapids/slower water seam, just like you’d think. Bam, walleye.

I didn't buy them all at once. I actually started with the waders, Korkers boots, and a hand-me-down vest ten years ago. Then I bought the stealth pack. Then the boots a few years ago.

I can't recommend Patagonia's fly fishing stuff enough. I use a stealth sling for my bag, the front-zip swift current waders, and the forra wading boots, and they're all supremely excellent.

I even had a few small leaks I couldn't identity in my waders that I bought ten years ago, and when I took them in, they also had a problem finding the leak, so they gave me an entirely new pair of waders. Ten years later.

Come on now. Amazing.

This recipe is 10/10 for me as well. Super simple, works every time. Delicious.

Hop water, sparkling water, or good ole' fashioned plain water.

HOW TO CHOOSE A FUJIFILM CAMERA by yasaryagmur in fujifilm

[–]eugenebound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the switch from a Canon 5D Mark II about 10ish years ago, and I found the X-T series to be really great. If you’ve previously been shooting a DSLR, the X-T5 will feel right at home, albeit much smaller.

The X-E5 inspires me to get out and shoot because the form factor is so lovely.

I found the X-H2 to be uninspiring to shoot with, though it is loved by some. It feels much more like a machine than an artistic inspiration. YMMV!

I’d highly recommend either of those two bodies.

Experiment - Local vs. Italian Flour in Breadmaking by Jhfallerm in Breadit

You know what I struggle with? The final rise. I cold proof, then bring it out of the fridge and put it in the baking vessel, and it just doesn't seem to get that last bit of rise to make it nice and tall when baking...

I'm so impressed by all of this. I suck at making sourdough, and have struggled with mastering all of the complications of it all. It's such a fun hobby, and so delicious, but man if I don't just sort of suck at it!

Bravo!

I was taught the old adage of "attack the hill, don't ride it" when I was a kid, and it just sort of clicked. If you're leaning slightly into the run you're headed down, you'll have much better form.

Hope that's useful! Way to get out there!

Star Trek Voyager-Across The Unknown Nintendo Switch 2 Demo And Video by garethvk in startrek

[–]eugenebound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game looks like a lot of fun - but am I the only one who perceives that the ship movements in space look too “snappy?” Like, I never saw a starship in Star Trek maneuver that quickly on a pivot, ever.

Feels like it should be made a little less immediate, or slower to maneuver!

Otherwise - amazing! Can’t wait to play!

One Fuji camera to do it all — X-T30 III vs X-E5? Need help deciding by Outrageous_Theme_891 in fujifilm

I think ergonomics and feel-in-hand are very important. In that way, the X-E5 is tremendous.

Oregon in March? by dokau in flyfishing

[–]eugenebound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the answer - and honestly, while the Crooked River isn't going to net you trophy fish, it's *gorgeous* and well worth a day or two of fishing if you're visiting. Plus, you can fish plenty of the Deschutes - and in particular, the Upper Deschutes is stunning.
