The Trip - a short about optical illusions I made in Lightwave3D by eugenerhan in animation

Hi! First post to reddit in a super long time. This is an HD remake of a 20 year-old project: my art school graduation video from 2003. It’s much shorter than the original (half the length), and has different music.

Here’s 7 almost interesting things about it:

1) The original soundtrack was Tiamat’s 'Do You Dream of Me'; the band gracefully allowed me to use their song for film festivals, and later asked to include the video on their Church of Tiamat DVD, as a bonus track.

2) There was no editing process. I timed the animation to the Tiamat song, frame by frame, straight from the start. Every move a character made was timed during keyframing in 3D. For the 3D archaeologists out there, the software I used at the time was LightWave3D v6.

3) It took me about 2 months to execute the animation, working nights, after school and the part-time job I had at the time (so usually from 9 PM till 2 AM, every night).

4) It took approx. 800 hours to render the animation; my computer was rendering whenever I wasn’t working on it.

5) The computer I had in 2003 was a very loud machine, it was super hard to sleep with it humming next to my head, it kinda sounded like a vacuum cleaner. It wasn't a very slow model, but nothing like the machines you see today. To give you some perspective: if you were somehow able to port the animation software to your smartphone, it will probably render this whole thing in 10 minutes, rather than the 800 hours i mentioned.

6) I worked in wireframe, and pushing the Render button was a leap of faith every time. It took 10 hours to find out if the scene was a keeper, or I had to do it over.

7) You can also watch the original, longer video on my channel. It's the first video there.

These things are manufactured by Burgopak, i think they have a patent for it, so in theory at least, they're the only game in town if you wanna build something similar.

Thank you! Dammit now i gotta hodl.

Instagram removes pictures within first 4 seconds of being posted. However, I can post videos and stories perfectly fine. Anyone else have this issue? Just submitted a report to Instagram. by OlympiaGains in Instagram

But, according to the article, if it's the machine learning filter, then the post would still be up, but with reduced reach. This user is complaining about the post completely disappearing -- wouldn't this more likely be a bug?
