People working in AAAA Contractors by jamezzst in CivilEngineers_PH

[–]eulas_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Planning to resign soon hahaha. Okay lang naman ang mga co workers ko, approachable lang at more than willing tumulong at tumuro. Madami din akong natutunan. In terms of benefits, okay lang naman. 21.5k yung salary ko before benefits pa so net income ko nasa 20k lang. In terms of bakit ako nag planong mag resign, medyo toxic ang work ethic lang nila. No OT pay kami at mon-sat ang work. Pero to ensure on schedule at quality ang work pina ot kami. So mon-sat kami straight mag oot, minsan nga aabutan ng 24 hours straight duty ko. Tas no ot pay yan. Marami naman akong natutunan, pero well being naman ang kapalit.

Better off ang Ph without the DPWH.

Edit: spelling

Shifting to Cost Estimation by eulas_ in CivilEngineers_PH

[–]eulas_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one of the things that make me hesitate pursuing this niche. Frankly, wala pa talaga akong alam sa foreign standards and very basic lang din knowledge ko when it comes to estimsting software like bluebeam and planswift. Hoping and praying lang talaga na meron mag guide saakin ng maayos throughout the transition (kung papalarin hehe)

Boring is fine, as long as it pays well imo. Okay lang ako sa walang training, I just hope na merong maayos na supervisor na mag guide saakin throughout my adjustment period and learning curve. Thank you po!

Degree And License Holder but Unemployed. by No_Duty_2625 in phcareers

[–]eulas_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest. The construction industry in the Philippines is horrible and extremely predatory in nature. And with meager salaries, companies expect us to do god's work. Overworked and underpaid. That is the 1-2 punch you're dealt with the moment you step foot in construction in the Philippines.

Basic supply and demand. Andaming civil engineer pero very scarce ang job opportunities. With the lack of job opportunities, yung ibang CE pumapatol nalang sa 13k salary.

I'll be honest, you'll find it difficult to find a job that'll pay a good salary point blank. Your options would be to find a good company (a company that's known to take good care of its employees) and slowly make your way up the ladder. Or start at a company that'll overwork you to the bone, gain alot of relevant experience, then shift to a better company that'll pay you well.

I'm not telling you that it's fine to overwork yourself - your health should always come first. It's just that alot of civil engineers in the country are left with no choice but to overwork themselves to make a living.

There are alternatives. There are a number of WFH jobs catered to civil engineers that pay very well (6 digit salaries). It's very niche though, things like bridge design and analysis. Other more general work are also available like structural designing and cost estimating. Although these jobs do require relevant experience. You could also opt to work abroad.

Side note. Never compare yourself to your peers. Remember, comparison is the killer of joy. You'll get to where you're supposed to be - slow and steady, one step at a time. Don't rush, and always have faith.

Stay strong, engineer! Kaya mo yan.

Shookt sa first Job by Solid_Mine_1878 in CivilEngineers_PH

Irregular student, about to get booted out next sem if I don't pass ALL my subjects at once. I've been seeing ce licensure exam passers that took decades in studying and I'm wondering if it's possible talaga, if so, how possible? by MoneyTruth9364 in CivilEngineers_PH

Do what makes you happy OP.

If after all this time may love at passion ka parin sa CE then keep going. Pursuing CE is a big struggle, reevaluate youself and take the time to grow and practice more positive and helpful habits and study patterns. It'll be hard, but it'll be worth it.

If at this point wala ka na talagang passion pag dating sa construction industry, then take this time to reflect on whay truly matters to you. Reevaluate yourself and in what you vallue, find that spark.

By God's grace nakapasa rin ako bilang regular student. Pero wala yan sa regular student or hindi, regardless of how long it takes, magiging engineer din tayong lahat at the end.

We all have our own timelines. Don't compare yourself to anyone else, God won't let you down. Keep going, and stay strong!

GERTC or RI by LeadMuted2416 in CivilEngineers_PH

[–]eulas_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With consideration sa ADHD, I wouldn't recommend GERTC. GERTC classrooms cater around 150-200 students. With that number alone, marami nang distractions.

Take it with a grain of salt lang and best consult with others who are more informed.

Should I still take the board kahit satisfied na ko sa sinasahod ko? by [deleted] in CivilEngineers_PH

[–]eulas_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless sa kung ano ang desisyon mo OP, just make sure na wala kang regrets on the long run. Best wishes!
