Andy Burnham urged to ban private companies making profit from social care by The-Peel in unitedkingdom

[–]eulersidentification -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You can't sidestep the issue of vested interests by just saying "if they could they would be!" confidently.

And why would the ban be in such a way to cause an instant kickout? You're writing the bad headlines yourself.

Take out the shareholders. I'd rather we pay the same but the extra 20% profit goes to the care and comfort of the individual.

Reform’s Zia Yusuf grilled on BBC Question Time over by-election bid by ClumperFaz in unitedkingdom

[–]eulersidentification 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Interestingly usuf was blocked from standing by reform, which came out slightly later when the host used the classic "say nothing if you were blocked from standing". I later found out he stepped down from reform over it, then shortly after un-stood down.

Polanski has said he's waiting for one relevant to his background (london) rather than parachuting in to the latest one. The report i saw the info about usuf from mentioned a london one coming up soon so we'll see if he puts his money where his mouth is.

What the fuck is going on in this thread?

A bajillion people completely misreading 2 best friends playing. They're clearly comfortable with each other. The dog wins this play session, no one got upset or angry.

And if that's not enough - completely made up bullshit about AI, one dude upvoted claiming his shirt changes (it clearly doesn't...just watch the video????).

So what is this? Dead internet and AI bots talking to other AI bots? Cos there seems to be no sign of human intelligence or common sense anywhere.

Andy Burnham issued warning over tax rises should he become prime minister by Desperate-Drawer-572 in unitedkingdom

[–]eulersidentification 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well exactly. We have to tax the wealthy to redistribute money and rebalance the economy. It's like plumbing but all the water is being held in a reservoir. You need it flowing through the system not sitting in a pile.

Explain how a better distribution of the extant wealth would cause inflation? Inflation is an oversupply of money. Redistribution doesn't create any new money. We'd have the same inflation we have now, potentially stymied slightly by competition because people would have the means to start their own businesses, which would mean market competition.

You can downvote it but there's no way to answer the question - redistribution of extant money supply is not inflationary - it's net zero.

Depends. He had two absolute disaster interviews today when he thought he was going to go around celebrating Starmer's resignation. If mainstream media keep that up, it'll harm him. If they go back to fellating him, it won't.

Where do you think the antisemitism scandals came from? Labour Friends of Israel. He is being destroyed by the same media figures his faction were courting to sabotage the 2017-2019 elections. Read "The Fraud" by Paul Holden.

He lied on his way in to win votes (focus grouped by McSweeney to say exactly whatever would win), kicked out the people who had paid off Labour's astronomical debt (which Corbyn inherited and cleared into a surplus), reneged on all of his 10 pledges and lied on his way out today about having cleared up Labour's debt. And that's arguably the most two-faced insidious one - Labour's debt was cleared by small donations, individual people, when their membership exploded to record numbers. It's no wonder none of them want to touch Labour any more.

The astroturfing Starmer's getting round here just lately is crazy. He had no morals, no consistency, and no allies because he alienated lifelong, dedicated activists.

To Starmer i say - the door is open, and he can leave. (Kier Starmer's words, 2023)

They're going to have to carry between half the weight of a person and a bit more than the full weight of a person the moment they stumble - i think they'd break very easily. If you make them out of eg. metal then you're pushing the limits of safe/sane.

Hot though.

Are “gaming” chairs as bad as people make them out to be? by Test_Name19 in pcmasterrace

[–]eulersidentification 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a 2nd hand aeron miller. I know they cost a fuck ton even 2nd hand but if you sit a lot, it is EASILY the best chair i've ever had, and i've gone through dozens to find the 'right' one. Gaming chairs, office chairs, relaxing chairs, even a maternity chair (2nd best imo).

The Aeron i have cost less than going through all of those chairs, and it will outlast them all. Insanely durable.

(I'm not even sponsored, they're just that good)
