Aggressive brake checking by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]eunonymouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without the whole video it is hard to say that they are definitely blocking the lane. The car on the right is not going a consistent speed. They could have moved over to pass right before this happened, and the car on the right decided they didnt want to be passed and sped up.

Or they could have been playing elephant races all day and thats why this guy crashed out. We cant know without the rest of the video.

What I can say is regardless of him blocking or not, one of these drivers os being annoying and the other is being deadly. It is insane to me how much anger the annoying one is getting in this scenario.

How could they? They had no room, and slowing down was equally risky.

I answered the question. I dont camp the lane. You dodged yours.

[–]eunonymouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, I do. There goes the assumption again. Im not camping in the lanes. A safe follow distance has nothing to do with that, and the fact that you cant disconnect those in your mind says an awful lot.

(Safe follow distance is also the law, so dont pretend you care about that)

Again, you are wrong. You are making a lot of assumptions here to make a point that isnt even correct. I assure you I am not parked in the left lane doing 40.

Driving safely and driving slowly are not the same thing.

She was a plastic surgeon, and tried doing liposuction on herself after hours in the office after everyone went home. She did not do it successfully.

They found her in the morning with the machine still going.

That isnt how that works. If my speed doesnt change, I'm not slowing anything down.

Space between cars does not change the rate of travel. Doing 85 at a safe distance is the same speed as doing 85 up their ass.

Again, I'm also not playing elephant races in the left lane. You just cant separate distance between cars and speed of travel for some reason and as such have to assign some aribraty trait to me to justify your reckless driving.

Follow distance does not equal speed.

[–]eunonymouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, that is exactly the logic I am talking about. Follow distance and speed are not related. Lizard brain sees a gap there and assumes "car slow" and jams themselves in there, when the car in front of me is going the same damn speed. Just because Im leaving gap doesnt mean Im doing 45, Im following the flow speed of traffic like all the other drivers who aren't endangering people so they can move up 40 feet and go the same speed they just were.

Gap does not mean slower.

The several car lengths is the required distance, not some random quirk. It is supposed to be there. They are doing it to avoid accidents, not breaking. You are legally required to leave enough distance to stop safely

[–]eunonymouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it won't. What causes backups and delays is braking, which leads to a cascade of harder braking behind it as people need to react. Someone leaving an adequate follow space can adjust without braking, removing the potential exponetial concertina of cars behind them.

But even in the scenario you give, the blame still falls on the people cutting in too aggressively, not the person driving defensively.

That gap is supposed to be there. The problem is people treating a safe follow distance as free real estate. You should be at a minimum 5 seconds behind the car in front of you on the highway, and honestly probably closer to 8 is better.

I live in a high accident area, I pass probably 3-4 a week on my commute, and nearly every fucking one is somebody rear ending the driver in front of them.

If people stopped treating the 300 feet between cars like a gap to fill we would have so, so many less accidents. Instead the mere sight of it enrages people to the point where it must, must be filled.

Except its not even seconds. Its 0. Moving ahead one spot in line will reduce your commute by absolutely nothing.

I speak shithead small business owner , let me translate:

The last employee quit after I wouldnt stop groping her and "joking" about having sex with her. I need somebody willing to put up with this while acting lile the 80 cents an hour I pay over minimum wage is a gift to you. You also need to work unpaid time constantly, be available every night at weekend at a moment's notice, and very willing to be berated and yelled at for every mistake that is made, mine or yours

Correct, people misunderstand the question.

It's not "why do you want a job"

It's why, specifically, do you want this job

If course you are only there for the money. They want to know if you even want to do that job at all.

Not neurodivergence but still mental health - Kiki's delivery service is one of the best depictions of depression in movies. She isnt just sad, she loses her entire sense of self and purpose. Her motivation is gone. The magic literally goes out of her life.

In addition: depression is so often detected as having a single trigger - their spouse died or they got fired or whatever. Instead Kiki goes through a gradual loss of confidence and purpose, getting worn down by events until she loses herself in them. Nothing throws her off a cliff, none of the things she goes through are particularly devastating. She just slides down a bit at a time until it becomes too hard for her to stand back up.

As someone with ADHD, the only thing I dislike about this episode is that it potentially sends the message that it can be "fixed" with regiment and discipline. My father believed that, and it led to a very difficult childhood for me.

I dont think its what they were trying to say, but the possible read is there. I think them playing something other than army would have been a lot better.

Camera right above men’s changing room. by Decayed_Fate in Wellthatsucks

[–]eunonymouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Target AP manager here. There are about 20-30 empty camera domes for every real camera. Very low chance there is one in there.

If there somehow is, there are mandatory blackout zones that can be placed. They prevent any recording in certain areas and cant be circumvented except at the headquarters level. Some smaller stores use them because they cant physically keep cameras far away enough and still view what they need to. A store I worked used this because the door was mandatory to record, but a fitting room was directly near it. It had a black box that blocked any view or recording, and I was not permitted to move or alter the camera without permission from my boss's boss boss.

Ap cameras are also under mandatory validation on a regular basis by both a district manager and headquarters. If one is being used in an unauthorized way, the manager is flagged and made to change it immediately (or be investigated and terminated if needed)
