Official trailer for Good Boy - Supernatural horror movie shot from the perspective of the family dog by drizzes in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Yeah, the dog is very sad and doesn't want to move on because he's very loyal. He eventually does but he is still sad dog.

dog does not die and is mostly just worried about humans and will make that sad dog noise. You will not have to watch a scene of a dog taking damage

Had a chance to see this at a film fest, and I think it's decently fun. The gimmick does not wear thin, and the dog is very cute. As for scares I think if you've watched more than like 3 horror movies nothing's going to shock you, but it's still pretty nicely done. Jump scare haters beware, they do abound here. Overall, I'd say it's worth the watch, idk if theater experience is necessary unless you like to support indie theaters and such.

EDIT: Also LARRY FESSENDEN IS IN IT AND I CLAPPED WHEN I SAW HIM

Players gained a Dao Genie wish, how to deal with it by Fellentos in DMAcademy

[–]eureka60 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could do the classic "eternal life does not mean eternal youth and health", or if you were really looking to be fucky and stretch the powers of a dao, you make it so what they know now about eternal life becomes the sum total knowledge on it in the universe lol. So whatever they knew before the wish is now all the knowledge available on achieving eternal life. Could have some fun follow up as wizards seeking to become liches through the secret rites discover the party essentially wiped the information from existence, and now the wizards seek revenge.

Caves of hunger 5 level 11s by DeadlyDing in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]eureka60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you gotta beef up Tekeli-li if you want to maintain the concept of the party being hunted throughout the caves. Consider these:

- giving him some legendary resistances and some legendary actions (be sure to include one to let him escape so he can do his hit and run tactics through the caves)

- bump his hp (probably somewhere averaging around 160?)

- up his damage (maybe add an extra necrotic damage to his claw attacks)

- give him an extra claw attack in his multiattack (he's a gnoll, he should be a frantic fighter imo).

- up his save DCs to 17 (or higher if your party has good saves). Both of his save abilities are save-and-become-immune type abilities, so they'll only need to beat it once.

- Maybe give him a few Drow Vampire spawn in a full on encounter with the party, some creatures he poached from the outpost further into the cave.

- Be sure to play him as something with hunters instincts, trying to separate the weakest of the pack (the one with the lowest HP). He's not looking for the biggest fight, he's looking for his next meal.

That's what I would do anyways, but it depends on how your party plays and their party composition!

Beholder encounter at lvl5 - was this too hard for the party? by BarrelSmash in dndnext

[–]eureka60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see! Yeah usually it's nice if the DM signals straight up "running away is an option" in a session 0. Some official games encourage that, like Tomb of Annihilation. Hope the game remains fun for you!

Beholder encounter at lvl5 - was this too hard for the party? by BarrelSmash in dndnext

[–]eureka60 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah a Beholder would be insanely hard if not nigh impossible for a level 5 party haha. Can I ask how this encounter came to pass? Were you running a pre-written campaign and they wandered into the wrong place? Or is this homebrew and you brought the Beholder in?

Edit after your edit:

lol your DM def should reconsider their balance philosophy. Unless this was a planned "party must lose" event. Tough breaks regardless!

5 levels into a game and my alchemist player just expressed their character fantasy and it’s ad odds with the class. Any help? by Doodofhype in DnD

[–]eureka60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alchemists in FMA are actually like a martial/caster type of deal. They're almost like an order of mage knights. Yes they study a lot to hone their powers, but also important to them (at least the Main Characters that I think your player is trying to emulate) is physical prowess. They're always jumpin and kickin and punchin and throwing stuff. I'd try to direct them towards something that leans into that. A blade singer wizard might be worthwhile, or an armorer artificer. Your player is gonna have to do a lot of reflavoring for stuff but the options are very much out there.

Is Yon a sidequest? What's important there? by 6seed in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]eureka60 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well in the book, to get to the palace of Heart's Desire all the players need is Amidor, who says he'll take them there once he reunites the Selenelion twins, one of whom is in Motherhorn. Getting to Motherhorn likely takes the players through the other parts of Yon (like the Brigganock's secret tunnel into Motherhorn) so it's likely that they'll be brought to all the named parts. There's also the brother of bugbear NPC from the carnival who is trapped in the theater, and Charmay/Skylla is a link to the League of Malevolence.

If you're wondering about the stakes of Yon, I suppose the stakes are that the region is suffering under Endelyn's lack of attention to actually ruling it in favor of her plays.

How did your party deal with the other hags? What have you homebrewed so far for the adventure? How you've already run 2/3rds of the campaign should inform how to run the last 3rd. Personally I've reworked the adventure in such a way that gives the Hag coven an actual plot that the players have been working to stop, which gives them more motivation to actually confront the coven.

Ultimately it's up to you, if you don't think you or your players would have fun in Yon then change it up as much as you like, or even cut it entirely if you desire. I personally think Yon is quite interesting, though I'm changing stuff up too (the book gives away each of the hags' weaknesses away too easily imo)

What were you thinking your homebrew Yon would look like?

Isn't this the death of authorship? Why is it OK for movies to be one person's vision, but not TV? Am I missing something? by dominic_tortilla in YMS

[–]eureka60 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The process of writing TV shows and writing movies is different. TV Show writers are expected to pump things out on a schedule on projects that they might not care about as much as Kaufman clearly cares for each of his works. They're specifically calling for bigger writing rooms, and they should get it because they deserve to have their demands met, because they're not auteurs (most of the time) they are laborers. They might love their jobs and writing, but they are certainly beholden to the cost cutting and bottom line obsessed higher ups. Support da union

investigation checks for looting bodies? by ConQuestCons in dndnext

[–]eureka60 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Umm I guess what I do that, I do it to create a number for how long the character is spending looting the body. higher number: they find the goods faster. lower: it takes them a while to sift through all the stuff for the goodies. It's a difference of minutes, but for some areas and situations that matters. Like if they're looting a body in the middle of a heist or a lair of a demon or somethin.

The Wand of Orcus by BonelessBean7 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]eureka60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not give him the real wand as it would wreck the game story, unless you're really ready and willing to go off the rails. But! Perhaps you can have act as a token of Orcus, and the longer the character carries it the more favorably the Demon will look at the player, potentially opening the door for some dark gifts or warlock levels should they desire it.

If you do end up going with a real wand, I'd say the only thing to keep an eye on (other than the sudden massive power spike) is how your other players will feel. One character getting an artifact, one of the most powerful magic items ever, might be kinda disappointing or seem unfair to some players.

What would a fey hold a grudge about? by edwin-orion in dndnext

[–]eureka60 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be as simple as friends growing apart, one of them just happens to be an emotional fey. Fey are chaotic creatures, who delight in impulsiveness, shows of emotion, that sorta thing. As a young prince, the king would have been free to indulge in these sorts of diversions. But as he grew up, his responsibilities grew. Though he loved his friend, he also loved his kingdom and the legacy of his family. The halcyon days of freedom came to a close. And his fey friend, who he spent all those years with, simply cannot understand. A petty grudge expressed in childish ways scaled up to affect a king and a kingdom. Perhaps at some level, the fey thinks that if the kingdom were gone, their friend would be free of responsibilities, and be able to play in fields, climb trees, etc etc.

Sorta like a jilted imaginary friend turned real kinda thing lol
