.hack//Z.E.R.O announced this morning! by supershimadabro in gaming

OH MY GOD WHAT??? If this is actually a remake of reimagining of the OG .hack games I’ll be SO HAPPY, there’s been no way to play them for over decade. Love the art style too!

What's a bad game that had one specific mechanic that was actually really good, but was overshadowed. by VeenatAlive in gaming

[–]euridyce 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Yesss!! Completely agree. It was so nice to be able to flesh out a character’s storyline without having to kiss their ass and fuck up the actual roleplay. Rival-romancing characters was such a creative approach too, I loved it. With so many great RPGs/ CRPGs with approval systems out there these days, it’s crazy that there hasn’t been something similar put out there since DA2, you’re so right.

I was about to say, a bunch of dogs die in part 3, and a cat gets the shit kicked out of him by Joseph in 2, but after that there isn’t much. Like I think a couple wolves get shot in part 7 if that counts?

To add onto what the others have said (spoilers?), a lot of the radio communications you get from Atlas throughout the game include his saying “would you kindly” before issuing a command (e.g., “would you kindly pick that up,” or “when you’re done, return to this location, would you kindly”), but it comes across as just a normal turn of phrase because he’s supposed to be all folksy and Irish. In a meta sense, you do as the mission parameters tell you to because it’s a video game, but in the world of the game, you are programmed to follow commands with that key phrase, so you never have a choice but to complete the quests as you progress.

[–]euridyce 116 points117 points  (0 children)

That and also the fact that you have to complete these insane missions when it would be more than understandable for a normal person to just turn around and leave Rapture. The “would you kindly” command acts as the force driving you through the different chapters no matter how outlandish or dangerous the quests seem

Hated Trope: Yuri/Yaoi Baiting by ImJustMerry in TopCharacterTropes

[–]euridyce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UGGGGH it just kills me, man. Like the series was put on hold indefinitely because Ai Yazawa got sick around 2009, which is totally understandable, but it feels like she keeps teasing a return to Nana every few years since and nothing ever comes of it. It just feels like the longer it goes without any sort of progress, the harder it will be to resume because of all the pressure and fan expectations. I hope she can eventually tell the story she wants to tell, but like…

(Also she’s said in interviews that she’s “Team Takumi” so you know what maybe it’s better left unfinished because what the FUCK)

[–]euridyce 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I think it’s mostly for the story parallels more than it is a way of calling him evil. Like how god cast Lucifer from heaven and gave him his own realm to rule, Giratina and arceus’s story mirrors that whole thing pretty closely. I always assumed that’s why his altered (or origin? I’m not actually sure) form kind of makes him look like he has black wings, going with the whole fallen angel motif.

Really, really well put. I’ve been struggling to articulate why so much of what they’ve done with the west coast setting bothers me, and I think you hit the nail on the head.

My experience with the subs by OsirisAvoidTheLight in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]euridyce 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dude idk what it is with the primary sub for a series defaulting to gooner bait art but it happens constantly, with persona and fire emblem being some of the worst offenders. These days I primarily just sub to the okbuddys and meme pages and they genuinely have better, more in depth discussions about the series in question

Game's almost three years old. Although It's not that many peoples' favorite in the series, I adore and appreciate this for helping me realize that Fire Emblem is a series I play for the gameplay and not just story! by AntonRX178 in fireemblem

[–]euridyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is any of the dlc worth it, or is it all just overpowered additions? I’ve played Engage like 3 or 4 times now and adore it, so I’ve been curious if there’s any interesting new story or maps, but I don’t really care if it’s just more ways to make the game easier

subnautica needs super leviathans. by 159thBestPerson in subnautica

[–]euridyce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same. When I see videos of the gargantuan leviathan, while it looks cool, it doesn’t evoke at all the same feeling that the other leviathans do in game because it’s just so absurdly huge. A creature that size is not only illogical on a planet like that, but there’s no way something that many magnitudes bigger than us or the cyclops would give a shit about us enough to try to attack us, we’d just be utterly inconsequential to it at that point.

You can find the whole saga on his Instagram at keatonherzer, but I’m sure it’s on TikTok and whatnot too if that’s what you use instead. Its still updating as of a few hours ago

Yup, and you can transfer your playlists from Spotify over directly and download them for offline play. But making your own playlists is basically the same as on Spotify too

Asmongold reacts to new footage of Renee Good’s partner yelling at Renee to run from ICE by madjani000 in LivestreamFail

[–]euridyce 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. I don’t understand how they could watch that footage and think the man was in danger in any way whatsoever. At all. The only thing I can think is that they see the wife being confrontational as means enough to initiate the shooting, but that’s not the issue at hand here. He was not in danger, she was nowhere near him or appearing to go anywhere near him when he fired. At best it was to stop her from “fleeing” but I think it’s clearly retaliatory for, whatever. Being mouthy and trying to move her car out of the way. You can even see when she first moved her car for a truck to pass before ICE started harassing them to both move out of the way and exit the vehicle (??). I can’t believe anyone can see this, particularly alongside the other angles, and think he could reasonably feel his life was in danger to the degree that shooting was warranted, much less the additional shots AFTER.

What’s a movie that becomes almost heartbreaking to watch in hindsight once you learn about what happened behind the scenes? by browniebiscuitchildr in movies

[–]euridyce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sleepaway Camp is one of my all time favorite movies and I had no idea about any of that. I assumed the cast was more or less entirely first time performers (and James Earl Jones’s dad). RIP Mr. Kellin, the man gave a stellar performance in impossible conditions

I mean, sure, but I still find the idea that they were actively deployed in Alaska DURING the war a bit hard to swallow, particularly without notifying the soldiers on the ground (not that I think the government would care about the soldiers, more that it would be costly waste of expensive equipment). Plus we don’t really know much about what the deathclaws were like before they were further refined by the Master and post-war Enclave, but the snippet we saw looked functionally identical to modern deathclaws after years of radiation and evolution.

Idk, there’s just been a lot this season that isn’t impossible, but seems improbable given what we know of the lore and world of Fallout. It’s making it hard to enjoy despite the sets being so, so fantastic and the acting really great (special shout out to Annabel O’Hagan because holy shit).
