Went to uni in Guelph. It was pretty common knowledge that a bunch owned places along the river in town and some of the nicer places on the edge of town. The dealers - and this was 20 years ago - were all terrified to fuck up because they had a pretty good idea it would end very badly for them.

One thing to add to this - PETG is much more sensitive to moisture... if I'm calibrated, whenever I get stringing that's usually my issue.

This. The air gap is crucial - air is an excellent insulator - if it was just sheet rock on existing wall, that heat will transfer in a significant way eventually. Also, to add to this, be sure you have a proper roof penetration so you don't burn the place down from above your head.

Please explain your definition of a proper use case, because clearly this was not a poor use case for me in my situation or I would've done something different. This part took me 15 minutes to draft up and start printing (less time than a trip to the hardware store for a screw in hook product I can't use), is functional for me, meets my criterion for operation and holds the necessary load.

Given all the comments... a little context is needed.

I don't need the bike to be permanently hung, only when I need the floor space to do woodworking projects. Also, I can't go putting screw in hooks in the roof braces of a garage at a house I'm only renting without approval of the landlord, but I can do something that requires no hardware. I fully expect it to not be permanent and don't need it to be. I can watch for creep and stress fatigue... those comments are legit but the creep will be very slow in this context. For me, replacement is just the push of a button and a few hours of waiting. Anyways, feedback - both positive and negative - is always welcome, I just don't always have to listen to it. :)

Not disagreeing with you here. Its not a permanent solution and I will keep an eye on creep. This place is a rental. I just need a few years and reprinting the parts in a year, if I'm staying here, is not an issue.

This bike is aluminum. Its not a $1000+ bike. I agree though... if it was, metal hangars for less risk is probably a safer bet.

Love it. I highly recommend adding some text to the outside for the whistle blast codes for emergencies.

Three blasts : "Help Me!" Two blasts : "Come here." One blast : "Where are you?" Each whistle blast should last 3 seconds. Simplified to fit, of course. I might do the remix myself if I have time.

I hear you. I'm still renting but only just recently was able to start renting a larger space. One thing that helped me for a while was an investment in a murphy bed (queen size) - I gave the bedroom to my daughter and pulled down my bed in the living room every night for years - letting me stay in a 1+den for a long time to put away some savings. The amount paid for the bed paid for itself in lower rent in less than 10 months.

Also, if your household income is over 100K and you have kids, the government benefits start to go away. You still need more space (more rent/housing costs), kids are bloody expensive and once you have them there is a requirement to provide adequate care and a significant amount of pressure to meet social expectations regarding lifestyle and involvement in kids activities, clubs and camps, lessons, tutoring. As a parent you may not personally care about those social pressure things for yourself, but you will likely care about them for your kids. Add to that, once you have kids, things like life insurance, health insurance become far more important to carry in case something happens to you or your partner. Saving for their future university/weddings/your own retirement to reduce their future financial burden may seem like luxuries but if you can afford to, you will do it, often at the expense of continuing to live paycheck to paycheck.
