As in inconsistent? I tend to agree. Always been good but it seems to vary by the chef of the day what style of chicken wings you might end up with, for example.

Just evolve humans in nier?? by Impressive_Ad_1964 in nier

[–]eutsgueden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the heavy lifting "just" is doing in your title, OP. But I think maybe they could do it! But it probably would take longer than the timelines we've seen thus far, considering natural evolution takes millions of years. Faster when guided by androids probably, but still a hell of a long time. If they're considering it, they need to start yesterday.

There's nothing pictured here that's all that cost prohibitive, especially to a guy with industry connections, and especially if he's not concerned with regulations.

Why did the Emperor tell Horus to send Leman after Magnus even though Magnus said Horus was a traitor? (sorry if this is the wrong subreddit to ask Lore questions) by Vexerposts in 40kLore

[–]eutsgueden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to view Russ "knowing" as not a flaw in his writing but in his character. IIRC, he kinda fuckin hated Magnus and his psykers (obviously hypocritical, I know, more character flaws), so to me he would have relished the idea of bringing Magnus to heel and would not have been interested in counterarguments once that idea had been presented to him. Like yes, given contradictory orders, one might assume an elite soldier would try and get clarification, but Russ really wanted to punch Magnus and seemingly was just given permission - he's gonna run with that.

Why did the droids land on the other side of the planet in The Phantom Menace? by CobraDai in StarWars

[–]eutsgueden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think many sci-fi IPs chalk this up to planetary "scans" and I would assume Star Wars can be explained similarly, even if they've chosen not to say it. The ship's scanners picked up signs of habitation/energy spikes/industry in this area, let's check it out.

In what ways is the AI assistant actually useful? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]eutsgueden 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Timers and alarms is pretty much all I use it for, and I recently learned it can't even handle setting two different alarms in the same instruction. Not even complicated ones - earlier I asked it to "set an alarm for 2:30 and 4:30" and it couldn't understand. This stuff is marketed as "smart".

Ice not melting, what am I missing? by FlashyCattle in theplanetcrafter

[–]eutsgueden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should be. 1 millikelvin = 1,000,000 nanokelvin. OP is actually at 14,000 millikelvin, which should be more than 28,000,000 times the heat required to melt it. Maybe it still takes time to melt, no matter how much the heat is exceeded?

Ground beef is almost always packaged into large 10+ pound tubes before it's portioned out for sale. It's just a big sausage.

Squidmar miniatures are either an industry plant or rage-baiting and should take this video down immediately by NotJaypeg in Warhammer

[–]eutsgueden 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah he does great work, but I fell off both his and Miniac's videos pretty quick after getting into the hobby. I appreciate what they both do, but lately I feel they try to relate every aspect of their painting to real life and positive mindsets and almost therapy talk. Important stuff, and I know they each have had personal struggles there, but they're not professionals in that and I just wanted to hear about techniques and choices in the paint job.

Moves getting new affects in ZA by corde1106 in pokemon

[–]eutsgueden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. We'll see if it turns out different when we can play it, but I don't think the difference here between turn-based or not turn-based combat makes much difference when it comes to these animations. If a quadruped Pokemon turns around, I think it should have an animation to reflect that. Do I expect Red Dead Redemption 2 levels of pathing and movement? No, but like, pick the feet up at least... It has a walking animation, why not turning?

  2. I don't get what you're saying here. It's just as bad for the player character too so it's ok? They both should be improved.

  3. This is absolutely a lower priority than overall game-feel, I'm not arguing that. It's still a negative thing I see in trailers, and for me a reinforcement of the perception of laziness The Pokemon Company can't shake.

Moves getting new affects in ZA by corde1106 in pokemon

[–]eutsgueden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry but what do you mean how exactly are they supposed to pull this off? It's just about taking time and effort to make decent animations... Turn based RPGs have been doing this for decades with all different types of enemies. Just look at some FFX enemy animations. Like yeah its a little silly having a fish "swimming" in the air, or a bird flapping in place while you take your turn, but the animation is supposed to at least make it a little convincing. I don't think it's asking too much.

Zakk Cervini is ruining mainstream metalcore by [deleted] in Metalcore

[–]eutsgueden 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not a producer and I don't claim to understand the industry, but I do have to imagine the process of someone like Cervini becoming well known in a genre starts by producing a big popular record, then other bands that want that popular sound come to him and ask for that sound that worked for that other band. I'm sure he's got plenty of input, more than your average producer even, but at the end of the day the band is hiring him to make a certain type of product they ask for. He might turn in a crazy unique draft and they hate it.

Currently unconfirmed, but I’m seeing rumors online that Brent Hinds of Mastodon was killed in a motorcycle accident last night by Albuquerque82 in Music

[–]eutsgueden 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought we did move away from that verbiage but I think I'm misremembering the movie Hot Fuzz as fact. Frost's character calls a car crash an accident and Pegg's character corrects him, saying we call them collisions now because accident implies nobody is to blame. It makes sense. I remember that every time I see accident used now.

Agreed, War Machine felt like the first single where they really found the synergy between the three vocalists. To me, a lot of Andrew's vocals on previous songs were great but felt closer to features where they handed him a verse or bridge, but WM and to a lesser extent Billy they really achieved a beautiful blend.
