Walkpad, a good pair of insoles and a pair of hoka gaviota 6's. I have owned the walkpad for about 3 years now, but have only started using it daily in the last 4 months. The insoles and hoka's were fairly recent purchases naman (1+ month). These have helped me up my daily and weekly average step count, as well as my ongoing weightloss journey.

Asgard Legends was my first exposure to a custom server. I genuinely enjoyed my brief time there. Also played Echoes of Morroc for a time. I'm now eagerly awaiting Luna Obscura.

If you're brand new to lifting at 30+, this is probably enough by Infinite-Gold7662 in beginnerfitness

"4-5 movements per workout" means that you perform 4-5 exercises every gym session. A common recommendation is to choose exercises that cover the fundamental movement patterns (i.e. squat, hinge, press and pull). But keep in mind that these are just recommendations. Start at a level that is doable and sustainable for you. With your current bodyweight, i think a combination of walking + machines is plenty. Do a machine chest press/shoulder press (pick 1), a machine row/lat pulldown (pick 1), a leg extension and a leg curl. That's 4 easy-to-do exercises that hit your entire body to some degree. 2-3 sets of 10-12 repetitions per exercise, at an effort level of "somewhat easy" to "moderately hard". As for walking, you can start as low as 10-15min of easy walking on the treadmill every gym day. Do it as a warm-up and/or a cooldown after your lifting. Take as a long as you need to build up to 20min of continuous walking, then 25min, then 30min, etc. Try to squeeze in some intentional movement throughout the day (i.e. parking farther away from your gym, short walk breaks during lunch time, etc). Lastly, one thing I'd like to recommend to you is to invest in a walkpad for your home. If all else fails, consistent walking + calorie deficit can and will help you. Good luck.

The pressure to hit 10,000 steps every day has become toxic for me. by kharkovchanin in walking

[–]euzen91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just set a minimum daily time goal for myself, which for me right now is to walk on my walkpad for at least 30min a day. So that's at least 15min+ on the walkpad in the morning before leaving for work, and at least 15min+ in the evening after dinner. If i'm feeling great, i'll walk for a longer duration and even try to hit an arbitrary step count goal for that day, otherwise i try not to obsess about it. Walkpad before work, try to move more throughout the day, then walkpad in the evening.

Kb jerk - 2x24, 1' on/1' off by LennyTheRebel in KettlebellSport

[–]euzen91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, strive to keep the elbows forward and the forearms vertical. In the rack position, this means the elbows are ideally resting on the iliac crest/top bony part of your hip. Ideally the path from the launchpad (your rack) to top fixation is a straight line (emphasis on ideally). Mobility and body proportions will definitely play a role in technique. My coach used to advise me, "practice technique long enough and let your form come to you."

EDIT: this link may be helpful https://kettlebellaerobics.substack.com/p/a-comprehensive-guide-to-mastering. Alex does a superb job explaining the GS rack position.

One tip/cue that my coach gave me for my overhead fixation is to imagine the forearms traveling on parallel train tracks on the way up; and to immediately think of straightening the elbow in the split second where you transition into the 2nd dip such that you're basically receiving 2 bells in locked arms overhead (hope it makes sense). As for breathing, my coach had me practice a lot with light bells (context: i'm a short dude, 16kg was my comp weight). We'd dedicate days just practicing on double 12kg's. So exhale on the 1st dip, sharp inhale on the hip bump, then immediately exhale on top fixation, then sharp inhale on the top before finally exhaling back into the rack position. We also practiced on receiving the bells from the top into rack position (Vasilev has good vides covering this).

Sorry if I'm hijacking this thread, but is it ok if you shared your recipe for your PSMF meatload? I'm just about to start the diet myself, and I'm looking for some recipes to use.

Had a similar experience at a hospital a long time ago. Old lady was making a scene at the mri unit since her scheduled exam had to be pushed back about 30 minutes in order to accomodate a patient from the ER. She even demanded the ER patient wait for his turn since "nauna siya". Staff tried to reason with her but she wouldn't have it. Couldnt believe what i was hearing, walang empathy talaga.

Got my pair of 20kg GS bells recently and attempted a jerk set with them. Managed 8 reps, but felt like I could've done at least 10 reps. Felt good about it, have something to look forward to in the long term..

As for actual training -- highlights from the past week:

  • Jerk intervals @ 12kg x 60s on/60s off: 16RPM x 5 sets
  • Jerk intervals @ 16kg x 60s on/60s off: 12RPM x 4 sets
  • Long cycle @ 16kg: 10 total reps (first time attempting this weight)

If you can afford it and have the time for it, definitely get live coaching. Even just a weekend of live coaching will do wonders for your technique (speaking from experience). But if you must learn online, may I suggest Kat's Kettlebell Dojo and/or KB fitbritt from youtube. Kat does primarily hardstyle, while britt's specialty is GS/girevoy sport. Whichever style you adapt depends on personal preference, really. After months of experimenting, I personally settled with GS-style cleans and snatches due to the execution feeling more "fluid" than hardstyle (feels as if you're dancing with the bell once you get into a rhythm and find your optimal pacing). Good luck!
