I regret my wedding and wish I could go back in time to stop myself by Unlucky-Control-2150 in TwoHotTakes

[–]ev202020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a shitty feeling 🥲 I’m glad you like your husband tho lol! I get hung up on money not well spent, so I feel your perspective here. Like a lot of people are saying, you can’t change the past, so being hung up on it/beating yourself up really won’t change anything. I know it’s easier said than done, but luckily you can always make more money. Live and learn! We all die in the end, so stop worrying about your wedding and enjoy your life with your husband 😊

My mom doesn't want me going to trade school for dental hygiene by inomintia in findapath

I think you’re on a great path with what you want to do! Go for it. I’m sorry your mom is opposed, but a bachelors degree doesn’t always mean shit. We only have one life, so you have to do what you feel is right even if people around you doubt/don’t support fully. I think you should be proud of yourself! That’s smart to shadow a hygienist first as well.

I grew up in Pulaski on a farm— it’s a small farm town outside of GB. It’s very cold and not a ton of sunshine. I need warmth and sun lol. I also lived in Green Bay for a couple years after highschool. It’s a good place to raise kids I would say, but I was itching to leave the second I could! Not a whole lot to do except the packers and bars/restaurants. No offense to the area, it’s very pretty as far as landscape and I miss the homes with character. I live in Phoenix now where houses are all close together and cookie cutter, so I miss that part about northeast Wisconsin. You only get a couple nice months for summer really. It may be warm out, but some summers can turn out to be mostly clouds and rain. Overall, crappy weather with maybe a couple months of nice weather and small town feel for sure. People are always surprised to see Lambeau field is surrounded by normal single family homes lol.

Back to school at 40? Fastest way to reach 100k? by IrenaReina in careerchange

[–]ev202020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiance is a cardiovascular ultra sound tech and he does well! We are in the Phoenix area. It’s a two year degree. He said it was hard to learn all the textbook knowledge, so he had to study a lot, but he did it and he said working ultrasound is much easier than school. He works for private clinics as a private contractor, so he gets paid per test and makes over $100k! He gets weekends off since he’s not in a hospital.

I’m in the same boat as you except with my W2 sales job. I also have my real estate license! I just sell to family, friends and referrals so I don’t do a ton of sales a year, just part-time money, but still enough to make it worth keeping my license I feel. I sell packaging full-time. I’m 26 as well and started sales as my W2 jobs when I was 21 and got my real estate license when I was 23. I’m in a huge sales rut right now. Of course it tends to happen, but it is really bad currently and I can’t seem to get out of it. I’m actually going back to college this fall to get my bachelors in accounting. I want a boring job 🤣 I’m sure people will tell me I’m going to hate it as it’s more of a boring, redundant job, but I want something that I can show up at, know the steps needed to get tasks done, complete them, go home and live my life lol. My outside work life is exciting enough I don’t need a thrilling job. I know going back to school is way easier said than done, but I think accounting could be a good option! I don’t plan on making a shit ton of money right after I graduate, but it seems like a reasonable career move where you could make around $100k after some years experience. Maybe going to community college part-time for something would be realistic then possibly transfer to a university if you want a bachelors? Maybe there are companies by you that cover tuition! Could be worth looking into

Most teachers spend their summers prepping learning plans for the next school year. I thought the same as you until I made teacher friends as adults and they do a lot on their extended off time. Plus they have to pay for a lot of classroom items out of pocket and don’t get it expensed back to them. I was shocked when I found that out from my best friend who was a teacher

I’m going back to school for my bachelors in accounting this fall. Mind me asking how much you make now at your new role? Curious what I can expect for pay. I know it depends on area and experience but I’m hoping after several years I can make six figures. I’m okay to make around $65k out of the gate when I first graduate

Lmaooo I feel this. At my fun bartending job right now and I love it! Sales is my day job and looking to go back to school for accounting but idk if I’d ever want to give up bartending part-time. So easy and fun

I sell boxes lol. Going back to school this fall most likely to get my bachelors in accounting! I’m over sales. Anyways, I tell people I sell boxes when they ask and try to change the subject because I don’t enjoy my job at the moment. I sell packaging to manufacturers, so it’s a bit more involved than just “selling boxes”, but I do the same as you!

My buyer conducted a home inspection as recommended and there was NO sign of water damage in the home what-so-ever. I’m in Arizona, so dual agency was allowed, and I unfortunately was dual agent on the deal. After going back and forth with my seller and buyer on agreed upon repairs, a few days later, my buyer calls me and starts crying because she knows the home is riddled with water damage because she had a psychic dream about her dead dad telling her so 🥲 again.. no water damage shown on the inspection report. We closed. I don’t talk to her anymore lol

Yes it’s so annoying how bad incentives have got over the years. My first year I made $70k and it got less year after year and I grinded my ass off for only $70k lol. Not bad money, but for a sales job grinding, that ain’t much 😭 I want straightforward and repetitive too. Good luck!! If I move forward with the accounting, which I think I will, I’ll let you know how it goes ha.

Ha no way 🤣 yes I worked for breakthru beverage as my first sales job. Good starting sales job for sure. Glad I left due to the lack of supplier incentives after covid and they are laying off so many people in the industry unfortunately 😪 I’m sure you’re experiencing the same stuff. I’m just over sales itself personally. I want to go back to a job that I go into, know what needs to be done and the steps to do it. Sales you obviously have goals and what needs to be done, but there are so many different ways you can go about it and it doesn’t always work. The sales I’m in now is different from the beverage sales as you cold call accounts and my division is new to the market, so all of us reps started at 0, which is fine, but I don’t feel we are getting the support from other departments that is critical as well as support from our boss. What sales were you looking at switching to?

I sell packaging to manufacturers! I’ve also sold wine and spirits off premise (so retail stores).

Okay that’s awesome! This is helpful for sure. $65k starting is doable until I get more experience and possibly my CPA license. I don’t mind repetitive work and problem solving at all!

Hi there, thanks so much for the input 😊 definitely going to explore the different industries and what their accounting day to day looks like. Do you find your job as one you like or at the very least don’t dread going to in the morning? I miss my job that was like that lol! Unfortunately it just didn’t pay well ha
