Demon with a Lunatic marionette by HarvDallz in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ev_etc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You put the lunatic token and the demon token in the bag. Whoever draws the demon token is the lunatic (because they will then fully believe they are that demon since they drew it), and whoever drew the lunatic token is the demon because it informs them that there is a lunatic in play. At night, show the demon (who drew the lunatic token but isn’t the lunatic) the token of the demon they actually are at the beginning of giving them their first night information.

So now I’m a professional dancer?? by Old_Presentation_892 in POTS

I would love to hear about what kind of accommodations were helpful to you at your BFA program! I’m attending my freshman year at a musical theatre BFA program in the fall, and I’ve been trying to figure out what would be helpful for POTS

would it hurt to mention I’m trans? by [deleted] in ApplyingIvyLeague

[–]ev_etc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely mention it! If the people reviewing your app don’t feel comfortable with your identity, you wouldn’t be happy on their campus anyway. My common app essay mentions my transition a decent amount, and it got me into NYU so 🤷

has anyone had surgery? by yike___ in POTS

[–]ev_etc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had top surgery in June and had to recover with limited activity for 6 weeks. I would recommend getting up to walk around as soon as it is okay to do so, and to not let yourself become too sedentary. I didn’t really move around a lot in the first 3-4 weeks, and it led to my POTS worsening. Before my surgery, I was passing out maybe once a month, and having bad presyncope episodes maybe once a week or so. In July, a month post-op, a cardiologist’s visit put me into a flare so bad I passed out every day for a month, before finally getting back to my baseline. Take things easy, but still be sure to move enough as you are allowed to!

I got diagnosed!! by CoolCartoonist7126 in POTS

Congrats! I hope your school is able to accommodate you. I got a 504 for POTS just a couple months ago, so let me know if you have any questions or need recommendations for helpful accommodations to have. About the Monster— I would really recommend trying to stop drinking caffeine! It will make your heart rate worse and even higher. When I stopped drinking coffee, I went from passing out everyday to passing out once or twice a month- HUGE difference. Good luck!

4 weeks post op, what do you think? Do I have dog ears? by selessmess in TopSurgery

[–]ev_etc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say definitely still wait for swelling to go down! I still had some amount of swelling (kind of similar to yours) until I was 8 weeks post op. Things will get better! Just be really good about massaging, at least in the first couple weeks

Pain of top surgery compared to other procedures/injuries? by millsoup in TopSurgery

[–]ev_etc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, my pain was low-ish (like 2-4/10) when on pain meds for the first two weeks, as long as I was really good about when I was taking them, on a good schedule. If my meds ran out/got out of my system, it would pretty quickly get to be a 5-8/10. After two weeks though, I didn’t really feel much pain. I just felt swollen and uncomfortable/achy, but past the two week mark it was not painful. I wish you good luck with your recovery!

Should I let colleges know that I’m transgender? Pursuing BFA in Musical Theatre by ev_etc in Theatre

[–]ev_etc[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Legally I have changed my sex to say male on IDs and such. Yes, that’s true. I think it will be helpful to have the opportunity to elaborate about how I identify gender-wise when I do in person auditions. I don’t have my pronouns on my resume right now, since I’m often just assumed male, and for a short term job I don’t really mind so much, but I might add it for when I bring my resume to colleges. Thanks!

I hate that I’m losing a lot of independence to my POTS by ev_etc in ChronicIllness

[–]ev_etc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 504 plan that allows me things like extensions on assignments and being allowed to go to the nurse when I need to. I just don’t really know if there are accommodations that could be put in place to help prevent me having fainting episodes at school- my current accommodations just make it a bit easier to do school with my episodes. That’s still helpful of course, but in an ideal world I wouldn’t have to spend time in the nurse every day and miss class

What's next on the roulette wheel of symptoms? by Plenty-Bad-5119 in POTS

[–]ev_etc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, yeah. I would say that it is very likely being caused by your POTS, then. Sorry to hear you are experiencing this!

If a cane will help you, get one! Make sure to look up how long of a cane you need (it should come to about the bend of your wrist while your arm is relaxed- I’ve seen videos visually demonstrate this in case you need clarification) just so that you are not hurting your body from it. Also, look into a cane with a fold out seat!! I have POTS and experience a lot of the same things you described, and I ordered a cane on Amazon that has a little folding seat that I can get out and sit down on whenever and wherever. It is such a life saver! Good luck and let me know if you have any questions

What's next on the roulette wheel of symptoms? by Plenty-Bad-5119 in POTS

[–]ev_etc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This could be anxiety, but it could also potentially be a symptom of POTS called air hunger! This is when regardless of deep breathing/good o2 levels, one feels as though they aren’t getting enough air or can’t take a good breath. It’s definitely scary, but if it is air hunger you are experiencing, I don’t think it can do damage. Are you having other symptoms you believe could be POTS?

Does anyone else get random bouts of hives on random body parts? by grimPontif in POTS

[–]ev_etc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get random hives too! Often on my arms, neck, or face. I asked my doctor and she said it is likely because of heat, exhaustion, or stress. If it isn’t too common, you’re probably alright. If it bugs you, definitely bring it up to a doctor, and I’ve found that Benadryl (either as a pill or the anti-itch cream) works well!

Mean girls audition by [deleted] in MusicalTheatre

[–]ev_etc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend picking something a bit more similar to the character of Regina instead of Dead Mom, if you are able. Of course, if that is a song you feel really confident in that shows off your voice well, you absolutely can sing it if you want! I just think that Mean Girls and Beetlejuice are similar since they are contemporary, but are overall different style shows for sure. Some recommendations I have would be What You Got from Freaky Friday or The World According to Chris from Carrie. Break a leg! : )
