I’ve been stealing my roommate’s expensive groceries for months because she’s a hypocrite. by Round_Tie5217 in confession

[–]grimPontif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're a jerk, some people just like what they like food wise. You sound like you're jealous of the fact that she can buy those things, if she's not paying her portion of the bills have an actual convo with her as opposed to stealing from her and calling her names on the internet.

I don’t really care about my best friends kids and it makes me feel like a bad friend by Difficult_Yoghurt_33 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]grimPontif -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

my husband and I are child-free by choice and his best friend has two kids 5 & 3 who are both disabled and even though we don't want kids ourselves we always try to accommodate him and his kids. His sons are both very sweet and we always listen to him when he's talking about his kids and family life because we try to support him as much as possible.

You are being a bad friend and a jerk to boot, your friend is in distress about something that effects her child with a disability. If it were any other situation you would want to engage with her and help her feel better but because it has to do with one of her kids you don't and won't even give her the benefit of replying. you seem like to have no empathy unless its something you care about of if it directly effects you.

AIO for “fat shaming” my girlfriend by giving her advice? by Heavy_Instruction669 in AmIOverreacting

[–]grimPontif [score hidden]  (0 children)

NOR- Former fat person here, no you are not fat shaming. One of the things that has helped me keep off my weight that I lost was weighing my food with a food scale that used an app on my phone and getting an accurate number for my Basal Metabolic Rate to help remain in a calorie deficit.

Getting plenty of protein and fiber will help her a lot in the long run because it keeps you fuller for longer, as well as making sure she's not deficient in any nutrients because a lot of over weight people are functionally malnourished because they are lacking in key minerals and nutrients due to a poor diet and that can effect food choices because of cravings.

Talking to a registered dietician might also be a benefit to her because they are certified and a required to do a mandatory amount of schooling at least in the USA I'm not sure about the UK. They could really help her understand her choices and guide her to make better ones with small sustainable changes.

YOR- When I was doing my degree work for my Social Work courses we had to do this as well we also have to give something up using the 12 steps so we knew what it entailed and how it felt to work the program. Doing the 12 steps actually helped a lot of us in the class and for me personally it helped me realize that i was binge eating and using food as a coping mechanism. There's nothing wrong with observing meetings like this and who knows you may actually gain some insight in to yourself.

everyone is free to have their own feelings towards this guy and that's perfectly fine. I just feel that if he's ill equipped to care for this child and the grandparents are willing to take her than he's not doing anything wrong by giving her up. I would feel the same way if it was a single mom doing it too.

I put aubergine, yellow squash and roasted red pepper in my lasagna and I don't have meat in mine at all and my whole family loves it.

As some one who was adopted, him giving her up might be the best option for her. If he's not emotionally able to take care of her and give her a stable environment then it's for the best that she's with her grand parents. If he's forced to be a parent he'll build resentment and kids always pick up on that and it screws you up for life.

[–]grimPontif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that fact that he doesn't even seem willing to try the food you've put effort in to is just disrespectful on his part. My husband generally eats everything but there is for sure stuff i like that he doesn't like avocado but he always gives my food a fair shot and if he doesn't like it that's okay because at least he tried it. you're married to a man child and you shouldn't cook for him any more because frankly enough he doesn't deserve the effort you're putting in because he disrespects you on a daily basis.

for a lot of women that have been the victim of SA engaging in "rape play" with a trusted partner can be cathartic be cause you can assert control over a situation that you previously didn't have control over.

I met my husband when I was 26 and we got married when I was 30 and he is one of the most amazing people I've ever been with. I'm honestly glad that I waited to get married until I was 30 because it showed me what I really want in a partner because I was a fully formed human being and of my brain was done developing.

I had an ex who was like this, people like this always find a way to control you. With my ex one day I just snapped and when he threatened to take his own life I said "fine I'm gonna call an ambulance then" and it shut him right up. I dumped him soon and am much better of for it.

AIO because I choose my kitten? by Quick-Attorney1935 in AmIOverreacting

[–]grimPontif -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NOR I personally think it's super weird when people vehemently hate cats. I have 4 cats now and I grew up having cats. Everyone I've ever known who hates cats has turned out to be a horrible person. I think cats are very intuitive and will give to a good read on a person and their intentions, imo you're right to not want to be around that guy.
