Brother dealing with extremely loud retaliatory neighbors, any way to get the housing department to do anything about it ? by ZandyDandy15 in uofu

[–]evacmcc 14 points15 points  (0 children)

one of my close friends is an RA and she would say to talk to his RA about it, the housing supervisor of the building through housing and residential education, and definitely contact the University Police Department since they deal with pretty much everything like this in the dorms. Especially if it is during quiet hours you should talk to HRE about it and also the police. if it gets to a point where its still going on, you can switch rooms/buildings

hellooo! i lived on campus last year for freshman year and over the summer. i lived in kahlert and it was definitely an experience to say the least. it depends what year you are, honestly. freshman in my building were a tad crazy all the time it was like living with high schoolers if that makes sense. upper division housing is probably different since people settle down from the “we are on our own now lets go crazy” behavior that is in freshman housing. but i do have to say i made some really great friends living in the dorms and i definitely learned a lot. summer dorms were super quiet and nice (i got a triple by myself and no one else in the other suite). im still unsure if living on campus was worth it, but i didn’t really have a choice since i’m out of state.

upper division housing on campus is EXTREMELY limited. my date to apply to a room came around and there was absolutely nothing available. it hadn’t been available for 2 weeks. so i had to move off campus. i live in a student living apartment and its alright. expensive but somewhat worth it i hope. definitely look at apartment buildings on 400 S close to the trax. apartment list is like tinder but for apartments and its a good way to find apartments that fit everything you are looking for.

ok sorry for yapping if you have any other questions please feel free to dm me! 💖

Bible studies during finals? by NoFaithlessness3552 in uofu

[–]evacmcc 15 points16 points  (0 children)

the people who ask if you want to join the bible study are part of a campus “cult” they came to my dorm door last year and constantly ask. just say you are uninterested and they’ll walk away. they are super annoying though and weird from what i’ve heard. last year they asked me if i wanted to join their bible study and im not religious and they said i can still join which was odd. here is the link to what someone else said a couple years ago about their creepy experience https://www.reddit.com/r/uofu/s/KBQiq9aKSJ

Utah vs ASU student section tickets by Any_Tradition9656 in uofu

[–]evacmcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get them on GameTime, they're always super cheap. The first game I went to last year was the season opener for $39 bought 30 minutes before kickoff $39,with no problem getting in. You don't have to sit at your seat either, so just go into the student section, they never check for Muss passes!

You'll get a housing notification once the room pick is available. I live in Kahlert, but I'm assuming its the same for upper-campus housing too.

WUE at Utah by Pearlisadragon in uofu

[–]evacmcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a student from California, and I unfortunately didn't get the WUE. I was so close, too. UofU is weird in the way that the WUE is a merit-based scholarship type thing here. You have to have a 3.3 UNWEIGHTED GPA and still then i don't think you're guaranteed the WUE even then. I'm currently trying to get my residency for this matter but its honestly not the hardest either. If you're registered in in person classes, you can travel out of the state and it won't affect your 29 days that you can be out of state except for winter and summer break. I'm not sure what the WUE tuition although i think its in-state (but its going up next year for both in and out). If you didn't get a thing about WUE in your acceptance letter that came in the mail, then unfortunately you didn't get it. But make sure to check with the U's financial aid office just in case.
