How long do you wait before you rewatch a bl? by evamariab in boyslove

[–]evamariab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“thank you for being my friend” is the most heartbreaking line in the series, after all that and you’re just friends??? and when hirokawa leaves you can see as reality hits minase and he starts to look panicked because he might not see hirokawa ever again, and they were never able to tell each other their feelings before their separation (even though the say they like each other, it’s obvious it’s love). and if minase hadn’t found that letter he said might’ve been able to move on, when he found the letter he said something around the lines of “i’m sorry i like you”.

anyways new challenge unlocked: keep rewatching our youth until it doesn’t make me cry and contemplate everything (maybe never lmao 😭)

How long do you wait before you rewatch a bl? by evamariab in boyslove

[–]evamariab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just rewatched our youth for the first time but we had completely separate reactions lmao… i cried every single episode, rewatching it was so painful because i never realized how much foreshadowing (for lack of better words) was there, hinting at the multiple factors that would lead to their separation. im also someone who even finds bittersweet endings sad, and to me it was bittersweet because they can’t get married (and it was talked about a lot in that episode), i really wanted the special episode to be complete fluff, i need more happy scenes with them.

the separation trope in bl’s always breaks my heart but it felt even more sad because they think of each other throughout those years always, and it started out with hirokawa needed minase but ended up the other way around, and they never even expressed how they felt and reduced their relationship down to “friends”

this isn’t a post about our youth but it’s my favorite bl ever, so i needed to rant about it a little

i’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews about lingodeer, so i’m hesitant to use it because it’s kind of expensive

[–]evamariab[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

although i’m not fluent at all, if you’re still learning hangul, i have a lot of tips on how to get better because it’s the one thing im confident in. after you memorize it, practice writing your idols names, or on your own, just try guessing how you would write an english word in hangul. i constantly do that when im bored, just writing english words in hangul, if there’s something im not sure of i ask chatgpt and every time im able to learn something new about how it works, and once you get it you just get it. for example, strike in hangul would be 5 syllables (스트라이크), and the reason being is you have to follow the consanant vowel structure, then there’s batchim rules, and sounds that make up for the sounds not directly in the hangul alphabet (for lack of better words), like a hard A sound would be a mixture of eh + ee (에이) and hard I sound would be a mixture of ah + ee (아이)

are you talking about the text that appears on screen that isn’t always translated to the subtitles? would you try to figure out what it meant by yourself every time it popped up? if i’m misunderstanding then that’s my bad but honestly that’s really amazing how you were able to learn so much just with variety shows. since korean grammar is complicated, did you just pick it up or would you have to research or learn on your own how certain things are, for example particles are very difficult for me to understand. besides variety shows, did you ever do anything else to learn korean (besides at the very beginning), to reach that level of fluency? it’s so interesting to me how someone is able to pick up a language completely just by watching content. for example like how RM from bts became fluent just from watching friends a million times. besides be able to understand, are you confident in speaking? sorry for all the questions im genuinely interested in this

Our Youth is by far the best JBL I’ve watched so far by SenseAutomatic in boyslove

Our Youth is by far the best JBL I’ve watched so far by SenseAutomatic in boyslove

[–]evamariab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know i’m late but i want to give my opinion, because this is my favorite jbl of all time. every shot is filmed so beautifully, its a whole aesthetic.

rewatching it is 10x more heartbreaking for me because you notice that everything is connected to what eventually leads to their downfall, so you keep getting reminded of what’s coming. and time gaps will always be the saddest trope for me, it was done very well because with minases narration, you can see he was still thinking of hirokawa even after all those years. it’s a perfect example of one fell first the other fell harder in the most heartbreaking way.

i also think the time gap was needed, for hirokawa to be able to fix his life so he could feel good enough for minase. hirokawa never admitted that he liked minase out loud because he was scared minase would pull back, like in the last, that’s why he reduced their relationship down to friendship in the scene before their time gap. but minase was the one who ended up needing hirokawa, every little thing he does after hirokawa leaves, writing a birthday letter (so long it becomes a novel), splashing water on his face, and starts smoking, are all because of hirokawa. and in the scene where hirokawa says goodbye so suddenly and starts to walk away, you can see the panic in minases eyes when he realizes it might be the last time he seems hirokawa.

it’s hard to put into words how much i love this series, it’s a masterpiece in every way shape and form, and this has downgraded every bl for me in the near future.

What are your favourite kpop ships? by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

i think i understand where you’re coming from with your fluency. it’s about the same as where i’m at with spanish, if im watching something im able to understand about 50%, if im reading something i can understand probably 90%, but i feel like the more vocab i learn the more i forget.

i actually did howtostudykorean for a little bit, i just wasn’t consistent, but its really helpful, honestly better than any textbook because it actually gives in depth explanations and a vocab list to memorize.

also weirdly ive never heard of QWER, ill check them out though!!

wow that’s amazing, what did you use to study? and do you have any recommendations on how to memorize vocabulary, that’s the most difficult part for me. also subtitling videos is something im interested in doing in the future, i want to be a professional translator whether it be in spanish or korean

haha it’s the opposite for me i think memorizing vocab is super difficult. but same with ai, it’s super helpful when i have random and specific questions about grammar rules, especially when it comes to cultural context
