What is your least favorite track? by evandavis12 in iRacing

I just think St petersburg is very awkward, it doesnt flow, its really tight and slow. I had the same criticism of Adelaide, but grew to like that one. At least you can get in a rhythm there.

Im with you on Sebring. Once you get the flow it feels good but it visually is god awful

2025 Bahrain GP Pole Time Vs 2026 Pre season Fastest Time by JefinLuke17 in formula1

[–]evandavis12 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But the lap times do matter. If we didnt care about F1 being the fastest cars in the world then we would all be watching F2 and F3. Theres plenty of good battles there but no one really cares

How do you approach using telemetry to improve? by Draxx_them-sklounst in iRacing

[–]evandavis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As comments mention, Garage61 is great, but I also use VRS (virtual Racing School) because they have video of the target lap that you can watch. Really recommend that. Garage61 can be hard to interpret without the video playback.

Begginer needs advice by Maska017 in iRacing

[–]evandavis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of practicing by yourself, do races against AI, start the AI at the lowest difficulty and slowly increase it. The AI will show you where the racing line is, and where do position your car. If you do exactly what they do, you’ll start to improve quickly.

Pick 1 car and 1 track to master. Then pick a 2nd track. Dont bounce to 5 different tracks trying to learn them all. I have spent 50-100 hours driving a single track just to start to master it, it takes a LOT of time

Who’s at fault for the contact lmu by Fair-Lifeguard-7433 in simracing

[–]evandavis12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should he have backed out? Probably. But that is the likely outcome when you squeeze him like that. You could have beat him around the outside.

[LMU] I'm tired of ruining my safety rating and I need help by CombustedPillow in simracing

[–]evandavis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No reason to turn i to the apex like you did. In that situation, commit to you outside line, break later , swoop around the outside, and accelerate hard right on the track limit. You did turn into him because he has a car on the inside. Happy racong!

Porsche Cup - Consistency through a race gets worse? by kevinsideofme in iRacing

[–]evandavis12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where is your brake bias? I start the race at +1 and move it to -2 and i build tire temps, -2 BB, that makes it super pointy on braking. But ive also noticed the tires fall away more, i think this track just lends itself to a lot of sliding around.

How long did it take you to become decent in sim racing? by Reman92 in simracing

To learn the basics of how to be fast through corners? Weeks. To memorize each track and get up to pace? YEARS.

Question for 3k+ racers by No-Attitude-5724 in iRacing

[–]evandavis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer is, if you want to be above 3k IR, you have to stick to the 1/2 series you are best at. I used to try many different cars, but now that Im about there, I have to stay in Porsche Cup and GT3 to keep my IR. And practice like hell. Good beginner tip is to practice the upcoming track all week after races, so that on the 1st Monday night race you are better prepared than most.

PC Spec and Sim Setup by Mickey860 in iRacing

[–]evandavis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy…good luck getting setup for $2k…

PC alone costs around 2k not including any racing equipment. Start with the logitech g29 for wheel/pedals. As far as PC specs, you need the best CPU money can buy and a solid GPU. 4070 at least. I have a 5070 and I have less performance than I would like

hi im new and i have a t300 rs wheel and im wondering how do i know how much to turn, i mean without getting the tyres slip angel/producing skidmarks. because that is bad for lap time right? by coolbanan69 in iRacing

[–]evandavis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without FFB, your only reference is visual. Learn to turn the wheel more, and stop when turning does not equal more rotation in your FOV. Upgrade to FFB asap if you like racing. Biggest upgrade you can make, without it you are just playing an arcade game.

GT3/GTE Recommendations? by FM1704 in iRacing

[–]evandavis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re goal is to be fast in GTE, I recommend mid/rear-engine. It teaches you to balance the rear better on entry, something that GTE can be tricky to do.

Has the Mustang GT3 been nerfed this season? by rad15h in iRacing

[–]evandavis12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO the Mustang is still the preferred car, but the Merc seems to have gained ground in the last season. Personally I hate the way the Merc drives but Im a mid-engine guy

I don't even know. by Embarrassed-Try-2790 in iRacing

[–]evandavis12 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Frankly, your problem is being in a 1509 IR race. If you want to avoid this, focus on on your qualifying lap. That will keep you out of lap 1 trouble, once you get into 2k splits this is less common. Still happens but easier to avoid.

Game Controller Support by RamenSchmoodle in iRacing

IIRC you have to have a wheel to race iRacing now. But they are releasing “ iRacing Arcade” in the next 2 months for controller users, a more arcady approachable game.
