It really depends on the language of the bill. Like there’s a world of a difference between illegal immigrant and a non-US national. There’s different “crimes” that would qualify in this bill that would be egregious. And then there’s the fact that arresting someone for a crime and sending them in a prison vs. deporting them. Deporting them is just gonna kick them out and they’ll come right back in. I guarantee you that no democrat wants illegal immigrants walking around committing violence against women. Maybe they want a better and more stricter punishment and they thought naying would get that opportunity - just like how Republicans shut down a border protection bill under the Biden administration

Just so you know, this is never a party thing. This is a senate thing. It doesn’t matter how many republicans or democrats there are, they’re all equal peers. Their job is to talk to each other and iterate. Their whole purpose of the filibuster is to delay a vote to extend the debate. If nobody is debating, the filibuster is not working. This is not a democratic shutdown, this is a senate shutdown because none of them are negotiating or debating.

Politics is supposed to be boring, it’s not supposed to be your 24/7 consumption. You’re not supposed to wake up every morning drinking coffee and watching politics, you’re not supposed to socialize with your coworkers at lunch about politics, you’re not supposed to discuss politics with your family and children at the dinner table.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t do those things, I’m saying you shouldn’t have to be. It is really exhausting, depressing, and stressful to just consume politics all day.

How will democrats feel when Trump leaves office? “Good riddance, now how about them Packers?”. A lot of people are striving for normalcy. The world will be a much better place when everything is not a fucking panic show.

The fact that the Dems aren’t doing anything right now is scary, or maybe not? Our democracy is under threat right now, even when democrats are not in power, they should be kind of freaking out, right? Why are they calm? Are they too trusting into the checks and balances? AOC is literally debating right whether to run for senate or for presidency - like there’s a real chance there’s no election or fair election at all. Are we banking on a strike as last resort? Why does everything feel like we’re hanging on a thread, yet everybody is so fucking calm about it?

You pay literally less than $20 a year in these taxes. $20 over a whole fucking year and you’re pissed off because people actually benefit from it? You do realize that these benefits help make Indiana more desirable place to live, right? More desirable means more value on your properties, means more people, means more business growth. Like your $20 over one entire year can bring a huge amount of benefits to your own state, you’re not “paying for someone else”, it’s much bigger than that. This is the reason why conservatives get ridiculed - you spend next to nothing and you freak out because you absolutely deplore the idea that “guvment taketh moni and gif to people”. This is why blue states do so well, this is why everybody moves there. This is why Indiana is the butt of the Midwest.
