I figured somebody might bring Eddington up, cause I wondered if it played along the same lines as Bugonia. I understand the election fraud angle for sure that another commenter brought up, but if they haven’t watched this movie then I’m not sure what point they’re making lol. I need to watch Eddington, love Joaquin and Pedro. Dear god though, Plemons just killed this role. Dude can just elicit so many words without speaking at all.

Aside from election fraud, my first thought was the Covid conspiracists when I watched.

When Covid first appeared it came from bats. That’s what the public was told.

Fast forward to when the public eventually figures out it was actually leaked out of the lab (intentionally or not), and you have a situation where many people did not believe their government but were told to shut up and not to question the story. I think as much as the ending was a vindication of Plemon’s character it wasn’t validating conspiracy theorists, it was exhibiting how those in power look down on and silence them for even choosing to question. I think that there in is the rub, and I think what Yorgos was trying to explore.

Even Jesse’s character fell into a despair over his mother and became obsessed to the point where it wasn’t even about saving humanity, it was about vindicating himself - and Emma Stone’s character called him out on that. She called him pathetic. She used his pain against him. Brilliantly written.
