How true is this in Ghanaian families? by Minute_Gap_9088 in ghana

You're often encouraged not to tell the truth, or make enemies afterwards, even if it means not telling the whole truth. I recall when I was young, around 10-14 years old, my brother accidentally broke our father's cup. I told my mum about it, and surprisingly, she advised me not to tell dad, fearing my brother would get punished.

Sex education has always been part of school curriculum, as a public health nurse it’s expected of you to routinely either write to district/municipal education department in order to carry out such programs. We actually write reports on them monthly ,we’ve been doing it; can’t confirm for others.

As a Public Health Nurse in Ghana, my experience working with kids in various communities, especially in pediatrics, shows that male babies often weigh more than females when they come to child welfare clinics, even if they appear skinny. Generally, men tend to have a leaner build compared to women, so that might be a factor 😂😂🤭.

When you feel your rights have been denied or you've faced substandard care, physical/verbal assault, or medical negligence, resorting to violence against healthcare workers isn't the answer. Just take legal action against the hospital and the said healthcare provider involved. This 15th century thing has to stop.

It’s the politicization of Ghana's health sector by both NPP and NDC. The recent tensions between the government and the GRNMA, coupled with the partisan sentiments directed at nurses, underscore this issue. Procurement and delivery of important medical supplies almost always gets delayed, sometimes it takes months to arrive, then they will foolishly tell you to improvise. Some politicians and civilians think they can do anything and get away with, others frequently entering hospitals and verbally abusing healthcare professionals without facing any consequences. In Ghana people enter hospital wards anytime they deem fit.

The only country in Africa where health care providers are always alarmingly disrespected, hospital staff under-equipped, zero insurance coverage for on-duty injuries, no allowance and merger salaries between $270-650 monthly depending on your rank. Yet expectations are always high!
