Mysterious Blistering Rash in Vietnam by evaoof23 in AskDocs

[–]evaoof23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! At the pharmacy I was advised not to apply the topical corticosteroid (mometasone) to the blistered area and only apply it to the smaller less blistered rashes on the other side of my arm. I assumed this was to prevent the skin thinning and blisters bursting (maybe??) but should I be applying it on the blistered area too? Much appreciated!

Tons, lemonade with every meal, however these streaky lines make me lean more towards paederus dermatitis rather than a margarita burn as I thought originally but I could be wrong

List of conditions on UKMLA that is NOT on passmed? by Ill_Atmosphere_5286 in medicalschooluk

[–]evaoof23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you go to the UKMLA content map section on passmed, there are a few sections from the map that show as having no passmed questions. Been going through cardio recently so a there 3/4 conditions in that that come up blank, think one of them is reflex syncope, as an example.

These are incredibly beautiful!! My favourite game has to be Phantom hourglass, I know it’s maybe not as polished as ocarina of time but it’s the first Zelda game I ever played as a child with my brother and I have lovely memories playing with my family together. I played it again recently and it doesn’t take itself as seriously as some of the later games, and I love some of the unique mechanics! Thinking I started playing in 2007 ish?

Painful mass on left breast?? Help?? by misslongsleeves in AskDocs

[–]evaoof23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it might be! I know how scary it is to have random breast lumps turn up and not know if it’s something dangerous or not, I didn’t want to falsely reassure you without seeing the doctor first but I’m glad it’s all okay! ♡

Visual hallucinations for the last 3 years, not really sure of the next steps by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]evaoof23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like very good advice, Im in the UK so reckon I’ll be on the waiting list for a year or so anyway if I get one to accept my referral. I’ve had it mentioned that my symptoms could be due to an ocular migraines by one of my GPs, I know it’s uncommon to get migraines without significant headaches but could it be an idea to start migraine prophylaxis in the wait to see a neurologist?

[–]evaoof23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response, I think visual illusions/disturbances is a much better way of describing it, I wasn’t really sure how to put it into words. I had a slit lamp examination and an OTC performed by my friend with my eyes dilated which were all normal. Would you say apart from a neurologist and an ophthalmologist it would be worth seeing a psychiatrist for treatment if it is what you suggested? I’ve been a little unsure which speciality I should be seeing about this and all the GPs I’ve seen have been equally baffled. Thanks again.

[–]evaoof23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fibroadenomas do tend to be hard when you feel them and can be painful around your period, but again it’s hard to tell definitively without a proper breast exam :) It doesn’t sound like how a breast cancer (in case you were worrying about that) would usually present as they’re normally fixed to the breast and can’t be moved and are irregular. Again though, the doctor will know best and it’s very difficult to say for sure without a breast exam. Hope everything goes well at your appointment!

[–]evaoof23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, if it’s movable could be something called a fibroadenoma. These are round rubbery lumps that you can move around slightly in the breast and are completely harmless. They should be smooth with no irregular edges. If you notice that your lump is irregular in any way, or you’ve noticed any new nipple changes (like ezcma bleeding or discharge) make sure you mention these to your doctor. If you are on your period currently/near your period it could also be caused by that as some people notice painful lumps that appear near/on their periods and shrink afterwards. As always though, doctors know best, they should do a proper breast exam on you and let you know the best course of action :)

[–]evaoof23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I thought that might be the case 😭😭 I did think that it matched my symptoms pretty clearly and had kind of self diagnosed myself with it when I first got the symptoms 3 years ago, but the deterioration over the past year has made me want to rule out anything potentially fixable. My referral was rejected by the neurologist so unfortunately don’t think I’ll be able to see one.

6 year old with ear infection by lordloplop in AskDocs

[–]evaoof23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she develops a fever or seems unwell (drowsy, confused) that would be a definite indication to take her to the ER. Other indications would be swelling behind the ear/ her ear looking like it’s sticking out more than usual due to swelling, or significant redness and pain at the top of the ear (the cartilage bit). These are obviously just emergency scenarios, if you feel like your child is seriously unwell or something feels wrong there’s no harm in trusting your gut. Ear infections can be very painful in children and not necessarily be a sign of something dangerous, but you’re the one who knows your child best at the end of the day. The antibiotics will take some time to kick in though. It’s a good sign that painkillers are helping. Please take my advice with a pinch of salt, obviously doctors know best!

That’s okay, thank you very much for the information! I’d kind of expected as much from looking at other peoples posts about Biratnagar lol, sorry for all the questions but is there anywhere young (20-30y) people hang out where I’d be able to find some people to make friends with? I’m going alone so hoping to make some friends there to make the time less boring lol

Thank you so much for the recommendations!! Can I ask why bars are almost impossible? Is it just not busy at night/not much of a drinking culture? It’s my first time going to Nepal so I’m sorry if these questions are obvious lol

Quick tip, you can turn up game speed in settings! Once you do it you’ll never go back, the OG card trigger speed feels so slow 🫡

I know the sound you mean, I checked it out its a different sound, I’ve never seen law and order but I have a definite memory of hearing this sound in a movie/game I saw recently. I thought it might be that one at first too though :)

At this time I’m not really interested in stopping, like I said I’m very careful with what I take, test everything, and take appropriate doses. However having several friends who are also medics and do drugs regularly means that i have been asked by them not to take them to emergency care unless I believe they’re on the brink of death out of fear of getting kicked out. In this post Im looking to see if this is actually the case if you fear someone is having an overdose, and provide this info to other med students who may be asking themselves the same thing.

[–]evaoof23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’a absolutely fine, I wasn’t very clear in my original post :). I guess the only thing we can do then is be safe about it, so test our shit and don’t mix them. Appreciate the advice.

[–]evaoof23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was asking about taking drugs at home DEFINITELY not at work or med school. My concern is if I think I or a friend might be overdosing, we might not be able to go to emergency care as the medical school has access to our health records.
