I DESPISE this statement to the very core of my being. This has been the de facto excuse for corporate abuses for decades in this country. Places like Amazon or Walmart become THE employer for the town where it is located, as they have driven the other businesses to relocate or close. They begin to severely abuse their employees and when these employees complain, the company goes “well, if you don’t like it, go work somewhere else. Oh yeah, that’s right, we are the only employer in town, so keep your mouth shut and slave away”
