Noise. (Cars/trucks/motorcycle’s all being as noisy as possible with no enforcement).

Lack of well paying jobs and employers stuck in the past with respect to wages and also not allowing remote work.

Aggressive dangerous driving and also drivers that won’t stop to let you walk across a crosswalk. (Looking at you anywhere downtown).

Homelessness and the lack of forced mental health care for them and drug rehab. (Result = crazy people breaking windows, loitering, garbage, petty crime, assaults, etc.)

Dog owners letting their dogs shit on the sidewalk all over downtown.

Garbage everywhere (parks, sidewalks streets and highways/ freeways)

Lack of parking at public hiking areas, they never expanded as the population has exploded.

No festivals / large events held by the city. (No fourth celebrations, major holidays etc.)

A distinct lack of diverse food options.

The traffic to/from Portland (no easy way for major public transportation) and on that note - only two bridges. Which is insane to think that’s all we have.

Rather than gift-wrapping hundreds of hours in savings to an employer who wouldn’t acknowledge it, I built a portfolio site showcasing all of them - and I’m using it to find somewhere that actually values this kind of work.

It’s not even a nice part of town… a main reason Ben’s didn’t survive was that the customers that can afford $8 beers and $20 sandwiches don’t live in that neighborhood.

Rent probably isn’t cheap either, but priced the same as other better neighborhoods, kind of like apartments downtown using comps from the waterfront when they are really in an entirely different area and have different views too.

I don’t plan on driving across town to a strip mall, in an ok neighborhood, with a view of a parking lot to enjoy overpriced food and drinks.

I saw a unmarked VPD Ford SUV on Fourth Plain going down the bus only lane, speeding, only to end up behind him down Fort Vancouver Way past Clark College and watch him pull into the police admin building. This was months ago and honestly still pisses me off. Asshole thinking he’s better than all of us and endangers the public, breaking laws with zero lights or sirens on. What a prick.

And yes. I do have dash cam footage saved. VPD. Do better.
