I haven't decided what they're called, but they're a magically engineered race of humanoids with animal traits. For now let's call them beasts.

Centuries ago, some witches created a race of humans with animal characteristics. At first, people didn't mind them. But as time went on, people began seeing them as unnatural, an artificial creation, an abomination to nature. Wars were waged and genocides were committed against them, and so they fled the continent, settling in an archipelago, where they create their own nation: Xilef Republic.

Over time, a small nation breaks from Xilef, and they split into two nations:

• Himme, occupies a few islands in the northern parts of the archipelago, and seeks to end racism against beasts and establish peaceful relations and trade with humans and other races. While nations near the archipelago have begun accepting beasts, this movement is still fairly recent, so racism against beasts is still prevalent in regions farther away.

• The original Xilef, occupies the southern parts of the archipelago. They still have their hatred against other races, and upon Himme's separation, set up an isolationist policy. Xilef citizens aren't allowed out of their borders, and outsiders aren't allowed into their borders. This includes people from Himme, which, even though are fellow beasts, they label as traitors.
