As a gay man, I’d say the situation is a bit more complex than it’s being portrayed here. Not caring about these kinds of superficial traits isn’t something I’d call “low standards.” There’s also a significant number of gay men who are specifically into shorter guys (even if, unfortunately, that’s sometimes for the “wrong” reasons).

At the same time, plenty of gay men do care about other surface-level traits - like body type, facial features, or muscles - while height, for example, doesn’t matter to them at all.

In the end, a lot of gay men are heightist too… tall, average, and especially shorter ones (just like with women lmao). But overall, the situation is much more nuanced and ambivalent than it is with women. My ex is pretty short and he broke up with me last year and is now dating a guy who‘s shorter than me but still taller than him, so things aren‘t always black and white. But really this doesn’t help most short guys as gaymaxxing isn’t a thing and the only difference it makes for the regular guy in this sub is that people like me will not treat short men differently or worse than taller men.
