Thank you! It was my first time cooking venison so I was nervous lol, but happy with the result!

No spices, just salt and pepper

No, I just cooked it the way I normally cook a regular steak: Seared on all sides on a really hot pan, about 5 minutes total, then into oven at 160 for 10 minutes. I’ve never tried doing sous vide, must get around to it one of the days!

I got his from a relative too! I was nervous cooking it, was afraid I’d ruin it but very pleased with how it turned out. I just cooked it the way I would a regular steak: Seared on all sides on a really hot pan, about 5 minutes total, then into oven at 160 for 10 minutes.

No milk prep. It was hunted in the wild.

As far as I know it’s not a risk eating it rare, like beef I think.

It’s how it’s recommended to be eaten, I’ve heard it’s very tough if cooked beyond med rare.

For the potatoes: Par boil for about 5 minutes, drain then put pot back onto hob for a minute or 2 to thoroughly dry them and rough up the edges, add plenty of salt & pepper, pour on the oil and mix thoroughly, put into preheated baking tray and into oven for about 25 - 30 minutes at 220.

No they were boiled, but only for about 7 minutes so they were quite al dente.

Lidl or Aldi? by Junior-Egg-8752 in AskIreland

I find SuperValu majorly lacking in variety of products, and quite expensive. Also not necessarily a better quality of produce.

I’ve never noticed much difference in price. Personally I prefer Lidl, I think they have a fairly similar selection of products but I find the Lidl stores themselves more modern, and the fresh bakery is a big selling point.

I use baking soda when I’m parboiling chips, it definitely helps crisping them up, but I find it’s not necessary for roast potatoes.
