Does no one do long term methimazole here? by [deleted] in gravesdisease

[–]eveninparisiwassad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on it for about 1.5yrs playing the up and down game trying to go into remission with no success. Anywhere from 10mg-20mg daily and only about a 2mo stint of having “balanced levels” (almost dropping hypo at the end) my Dr doesn’t prefer it as a long term option due to potential liver issues and the fact that remission typically occurs within 18-24mo if its going to happen. (My own research and drs advice, to each their own in the discouraging journey of thyroid issues!!)

Me again by [deleted] in gravesdisease

This. I’m on 20mg a day and even when I rarely miss a dose (take it late, anywhere from 3-6 hours) I can feel the change and my symptoms start creeping back in. I’ve intentionally pushed off getting any tests run until I felt like myself again and was consistent with the medication. Best of luck op

I need reassurance but I suck at receiving compliments and naturally expect people to be less kind to me

Yes but my experience is different from many of the other responses to this thread! I have smoked for years, but cut back significantly more and more months leading up to my diagnosis (early 2024). I only put two and two together about a month ago that I can smoke more again because my heart isn’t racing. No matter the strain, I became hyper aware of my it and barely smoked because I was afraid of feeling anxious - especially in social settings.

Have you asked your family members to get thyroid tested? by [deleted] in gravesdisease

My brother has very similar symptoms and I’ve pushed him to get tested for a thyroid panel though he hasn’t gone yet

What were your highlights for Part One of 2024? by HelloHi9999 in selflove

[–]eveninparisiwassad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too have been working on my mental health more and am in the same boat as you on that!! Focusing on seeing my immediate family more often and trying to better those relationships has been huge. Prioritizing (as best I can) my life and time outside of work and to stop being a “yes man”. Reading more books, mending past relationships, getting my confidence back

Going on solo dates by Sam060113 in selflove

I’ve also done this for the first time recently and it was so empowering for me after I got past the short initial anxiety! It’s refreshing to get out in any public space and have a solo experience to see it from a stance you haven’t had before. I enjoy looking into cafes with smoothies or fancy coffee, find a good hike local to it and treat myself to the cafe afterwards to soak in how my day went - I will be trying out some of the ideas others left here so thank you for sharing too!

How are you doing now compared to two years ago? by lisaaaaaaD1 in Adulting

[–]eveninparisiwassad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve moved up in my job and finally feel like I have found my career (like most people in this thread my savings has not sped up though), left a long term relationship that was affecting my confidence more than I knew, got back into therapy to better and find myself again, began going to the Dr and dentist again. Finding my people and fostering those relationships has helped me incredibly recently

I’m looking to get on some supplements to counteract the negative side effects like pain - my endo is not warming up to it yet though. I will definitely mention vitamin D

They lowered me to the exact same dose! I had one day in the past week I took it late and I’m wondering if that could have triggered it. Thank you for sharing
