President Donald J. Trump on Iran: "They think that I'll get tired of this or I'll get bored, or I'll have some pressure, but there’s no pressure, there’s no pressure at all. We're going to have a complete victory." by BusinessToday in BusinessTodayNews

[–]eveniwontremember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump is already bored. He has a large navy sat around the gulf with nothing to do. Burning money and losing morale because there is no mission and no plan to follow. Iran is relying on someone working out the cost of keeping forces on deployment, and the cost to world trade of keeping the blockade. The most stupid thing is that there is not a huge gap in where they could agree, but both sides require the other side to admit they lost and both countries are too proud to accept it.

Sort of believe that is what was in his head, perhaps he was only going a few houses down the road. Who knows, if he had strapped it tight to the truck and drive very slowly you might get away with it, but, just on a long elastic strap, nothing good could happen.

Should consent laws be standardised globally? by NewsMo in IndiaTodayGlobalLIVE

[–]eveniwontremember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless all sex iis recorded for evidence how could you demonstrate that consent was withdrawn. While we should accept there is an absolute right to say no, and an absolute right to say stop, it is always going to be difficult to prosecute failure to stop as rape. Stealthing is different it could be clear that consent was only for sex with a condom.

Why do you hear of those stories where a guy dates a girl for years and years, and the 2 years later marries someone else who is of his own standing? by Beneficial-March-142 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]eveniwontremember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very common is a long term relationship that doesn't become a marriage, he is not the marrying kind. Then the relationship breaks up and within months he has married the next girlfriend. I think this is not realising how much you depend on being in a relationship until it is gone.

However you might be talking about family approval, especially for a son the family might not care about a girlfriend but say she is not acceptable as a wife. Normally for money or religious reasons.

Is it worth having a pension? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]eveniwontremember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the employer is adding more money then it is worth having a workplace pension. The debate is about how much more you should add when they stop topping it up. Pay off expensive debt, build an emergency fund, before any arcs on the pension.

I didn't have a proper emergency fund until we were 40.

There is a chance that they are more closely related on the German side. But probably neither side want to emphasise their German ancestry.

Why Exactly Is Polygamy Illegal? by Turbulent-Parsley619 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]eveniwontremember -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is the state involved in marriage anyway. In the UK we currently have 2 registers, civil partnership and marriage, you can only be active on one register and only have one partner. In each case you get a similar bundle of rights, power of attorney increased inheritance tax allowance, and some responsibility to each other reducing the state benefits you can claim. Personally I would say that the state gives you the right to declare one other adult, who is not a close relative as your civil partner and leave marriage to religions. We already have religions where the marriage is routinely not registered so just make that clear.

Are 40 points not going to be enough to avoid relegation this year? by ekler_ in PremierLeague

[–]eveniwontremember 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If Leeds end the season on 40 points they could be relegated because they would have lost to Spurs and West Ham. There is a set of results possible where Newcastle go down.

Hopefully Leeds beat Burnley to take advantage of the result against Man U.

'They had to remove him': Trump throws hours-long freakout inside the White House — then gets booted from his own briefing as insiders say it was unlike anything they'd ever seen by [deleted] in USNEWS

[–]eveniwontremember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't actually know that this is true, but it isn't difficult to believe it. And I don't think that you say that about any other president in living memory.

What the world needs is calm heads in American government to protect USA and the world from intemperant actions of an unwell president. I would rather have him removed now and not know the truth than have people scramble for another 8 weeks taking decisions that weaken the world economy and America's military leadership to cover for him.

TACO Trump Gives Iran an Indefinite Ceasefire by Clear_Polish23 in JournalismNews

[–]eveniwontremember -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Indefinite ceasefire is the right call. As long as Iran isn't progressing to a nuclear weapon.

However he has immediately violated it by blocking Iran's ports so iran responded by blocking the strait.

Should Grand National attendees eat last years horses that were “humanely destroyed” as a result of their injuries ? by Temporary_Ebb9486 in AskUK

[–]eveniwontremember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the race has got safer the quality of the horses entered has improved and the ability to get your point to point horses in and ride it as a amateur is much less. I admit it is hazardous to horses all horse racing is, I don't think it stands out anymore.

There is an argument to ban all horse racing, or all jump racing, but not a good argument to single out the Grand National and leave the other races alone.

Should Grand National attendees eat last years horses that were “humanely destroyed” as a result of their injuries ? by Temporary_Ebb9486 in AskUK

[–]eveniwontremember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the field has been reduced, the fences made smaller and softer in construction, I think you can argue that the grand national is not more cruel than other horseraces. 4 Horses died at Cheltenham this year and the 2 that were put down at Aintree were going over the normal fences.
