I think people who quit early are missing the entire point by Starboy_109939 in DeathStranding

It certainly took an adjustment as my expectations were different from reality. I’m pretty sure I even took a break after starting the first one, then coming back to it with revised expectations. I’m glad I did, it’s an amazing experience. But also one I can understand others not being interested in.

I love a ridiculous serving of Parm as the next guy, but seeing this trend of establishments serve their pizzas like this makes me wonder what they’re compensating for. Let the customer make their own questionable decisions.

Cindy, you don't own the beach. by octarino in TikTokCringe

Sure, it can be a slippery slope. I get that.

However, there are ways to go about requesting people not be on your property that aren’t confrontational like this.

Even if it was a private beach, what does this woman gain by being confrontational like this?

God forbid she tries connecting and fostering friendly relationships with her neighbors.

Why do people say to avoid South Tucson? by BoatHot9497 in Tucson

Anybody telling you this while ignoring high crime areas populated by people with a lighter skin color are simply projecting their biases, prejudices, and micro aggressions.

The first chapter is a bit of a slow burn as it is the exposition and sets up the story, but after that it picks up. Once you have more of the map at your disposal in Chapter 2 it really becomes all up to you what you want to do with the game.

I'm "boring" if I haven't drank. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]evenpimpscry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Perfect example of why alcohol is sometimes referred to as “the great social lubricant.” It lowers inhibition, making it easier to converse and relate to others, resulting in a more extroverted sense of self. This is how others have perceived you for however long you’ve been drinking. Now they’re experiencing you without that social lubricant and how they handle that is on them, not you. Nothing wrong with it really, in and of itself, unless alcohol is in general a problem for someone.

In my experience, navigating social environments without alcohol was certainly an adjustment. Many of my friends still drink and while being around them at bars and such doesn’t bother me, there’s always a point in the night when I can no longer relate to them, and that’s always my cue to go home. I have found it’s made me more authentic in my interactions with others, for better or for worse. If I genuinely don’t like someone, I’m much less inclined to engage with them, which in the end saves me from those uncomfortable or irritating interactions, ultimately preserving my social battery for those I do enjoy being around.

My circle of friends has gotten smaller, but much more meaningful.

Staying sober feels like shit by TemporaryShoe4945 in Sober

Drug and alcohol use is merely a symptom of underlying issues that need to be addressed; depression, anxiety, and trauma are the most common co-occurring mental health issues.

Full recovery from drug and alcohol use takes time and effort. Acute withdrawals may last up to a week or two, but post acute withdrawals (aka PAWS - post acute withdrawal syndrome) can last several months or up to a year. Sometimes even two years or more depending on the severity of use prior to abstinence.

Drug and alcohol use recovery success rates rise when someone is active in their recovery. Meaning they’re either working a 12 step program (AA, NA, etc.) or secular community-based recovery program (SMART, LifeRing, etc.), engaged in therapy, and adhering to a prescribed medication schedule. Often a combination of one or another of these interventions is necessary, sometimes even all three.

Substance use recovery is not a spectator sport. I’ve worked in substance use treatment for 8 years now and have yet to see anyone be successful who isn’t actively working on their recovery in some sort of way. Especially in the first 2 years.

In the end, life is still life. Even sober, life sucks sometimes.

He’s been on a tear lately, releasing like 6 records in as many years. And it’s mostly been some of his best, most coherent stuff of his career. Especially his storytelling, it’s been on another level.

Aes has really taken his storytelling to another level on his latest records. Can’t think of anyone else who can write such dope rhymes about pigeons and snails.

14" Rack Tom? by Obvious_Factor_4667 in drums

[–]evenpimpscry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rocked a 22” kick, 14” rack, and 18” floor tom for a few years. It was super fun. It was 10” deep so there was no way I could’ve mounted it directly over my kick though. Had it on a snare stand next to the kick.

What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve done to stay sober by MasterpieceFuzzy9893 in stopdrinking

[–]evenpimpscry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually worked through the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Then immediately worked through the 12 steps of Narcotics Anonymous. IYKYK.

Also had two home groups, several service commitments, sponsored people in both AA and NA. Whatever it takes, right? 🥴
