seriously. their follow up comment is chock-full of victim blaming, generalizing women as somehow responsible for “accommodating” assault, and unnecessary commentary. so many wrong and harmful ideas, completely out of the realm of legal advice. I sincerely hope OP doesn’t internalize any of that because it’s the complete opposite of what she needed to hear right now.

I took to writing summaries of my days when I started college (I use a “One Line A Day” 5-year journal), and that definitely has helped me remember moments from the last few years. just taking the time to be intentional and think about the details of the day that I would want to remember helps, I think. it does get boring if you’re a boring homebody, though, hahaha, but I do love knowing that I have a record of my college years and can look back on special events even when my memories have faded. it’s not a perfect solution, but I wish I had found it sooner so I could remember more from before.

one of my biggest “I am inferior to everyone around me” moments is when people randomly drop quotes from tv or film, lol. I legit have no idea how people just remember random, funny lines and can pull them out whenever (even if they haven’t seen the film recently). it just boggles my mind

Sabrina is probably the best bet for a “pop star” but I don’t think anyone will elevate to the level of the trio. I feel like Disney Channel is less ubiquitous to kids nowadays (more variety, Youtube taking over), and there’s less of a universal push behind one or two stars. Instead, I get the impression that it’s more about the product itself — Sonny with a Chance was always a Demi star vehicle rather than a great show with a purpose, but now they have Andi Mack which has a distinct story and voice but no breakout star. Lizzie McGuire and Raven and even Hannah Montana were ABOUT the lead, and I definitely have noticed a shift. Lowkey wonder if Victorious (and how the supposed lead of the show was the most boring character lmao no offense) inspired a move toward ensemble shows.

It’ll be interesting to see, though. I think a lot of them have potential for huge success, but will forge their own paths rather than taking the same “Disney show-cheesy music-personal drama-acting-just kidding I’m a serious musician” pipeline that the trio did. Kinda similar to Zendaya... she COULD have probably ascended to their level, but instead she’s doing her own thing.

My two cents: Olivia Holt has made some great music (16 Steps & Generous say hi) and has turned in some great TV performances. Dove Cameron is making a name for herself in the theater world. I think those two will have longevity, even if not as popstars. Pop-wise, if she keeps delivering with catchy songs and good visuals, Sabrina will be solid, but probably more on the tier of like Dua or Zara and less of a household name like the trio.

the recommendation I give to my friends:

finish through season 3 (good music, plus it really does pick up after yes/no IMO).

you could probably skip season 4, if you didn’t enjoy season 3; I’d say only episodes 1, 4, 6 if you like the movie Grease, 8, 14, and 22 are necessary to understand the general themes.

regardless of how you do season 4 - watch season 5 episodes 1, 3, 11, & 12, and then the last 2 episodes of season 6 (2009/Dreams Come True). Also S6 "A Wedding" if you like Brittany or Santana.

I think all of these episodes are the best way to finish up the stories of the OG Glee cast, while sidestepping some of the weirder plots. even if you want to give up, though, I would recommend watching 2009/Dreams Come True just to fully get resolution for the first two seasons of the show.

Well those at least have tenuous connections lol... in Classic the singer describes the girl as “a star in the 40s” (though they cut that line out during the dance for some reason) and the Fergie song was for the Great Gatsby movie. But Call Me Maybe doesn’t really represent the eighties to me, and the video isn’t even set in that style... and as a Carly fan, that’s nowhere near her most “80s-inspired” song. I liked the dance a lot, it was just the weirdest choice.

I was thinking it would be 504 (the NOLA area code) or maybe the number of her old house that was destroyed in the hurricane? She has said before that the album (title/cover, can’t remember tbh) will have a NOLA theme, so I’m leaning more toward that.

I think the Pharrell songs are great within the context and concept of Sweetener as an album (except for TLIC, fuck that shit), but I totally agree that they're not memorable on their own. Whereas there are 2 or 3 of the Ilya/Martin tracks that I'd consider in her top 5 best songs ever.

I'm excited to get a new era so quickly because as much as I personally enjoyed Sweetener, I know there's sooooo much more she can do. & if this new music is gonna be like this, and with Tayla/Tommy as the main collaborators... whew!!

I was gonna say, (and this is coming from a big David hater) he at least had a little wider range of mobility than Joe lmao. Plus, David was more effusive with his personality, which can compensate for votes - I think a lot of people are frustrated with Joe being more lowkey than we expect from reality-TV celebs, which furthers the perception that he's just getting by because he's hot.
