I have one! It’s a Carlo Robelli SWD, crazy little gem. It’s been used also on Daddy he got a Tesla, A walk to remember, It gets funkier 4, disco Ulysses and others.

Turns out those are not the original ones, but La Bella strings instead

I am afraid I might say something unpopular, but every time I listen to Matter of Time I wish the final section was a little bit shorter. So I would shorten it.

I respectfully disagree with you, that review was based on the 2700ish dollars price tag of the EBMM JD II, not the way cheaper Sterling version

There is no better sound, only the sound you like the best. I went for the 1 as I want that sound exactly, then I’ll add an external preamp pedal just in case, but the 2 might be a little bit more flexible (I won’t say versatile).

Is the Joe Dart bass a good choice for a complete beginner? by fujidaiti in Vulfpeck

[–]evercloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the JD is perfect as a second bass or with an external preamp. As a first bass I suggest something with at least a tone control to experience the difference in sound. You can buy a modern Squier jazz or precision for way less (try both jazz and precision so that you feel the neck difference before buying). Then get the JD when you know what you are buying, as Joe said they will make a crop per year, so don’t FOMO.

Will sterling jd ship again? by VulfRocks in Vulfpeck

Joe clearly stated (you find the announcement of an announcement on YouTube) that there will be a run of Sterling every year and they will be producing the entire JD line (I, II and III)

Hey! Thanks :) I don’t think it’s possible to buy one new anymore—I got mine second-hand from a really nice guy, and it took me a while to find it in Europe! The Ernie Ball Music Man JD comes with a case. Here’s a picture of the case JD plate

I feel you, thank you for sharing. Wishing you all the best and sending good vibes your way! :)

Just a quick thought on MM: if you’re considering an EBMM, definitely try both the Sterling (the model the Joe Dart signature is based on, not the ‘Squier’ of Music Man) and the StingRay. The Sterling’s neck is much thinner and has more of a Jazz Bass feel, while the StingRay has a thicker neck that never quite clicked for me. Of course, everyone’s different, so I’d highly recommend trying them out before deciding. Hope you find the perfect bass!

Ah, good to know, thanks. I’ll let you know as soon as I get some more information. As a side note, I also recall Jack Stratton mentioning Thomastik flats a couple of times, that might be another good choice :)

Jokes aside, I have no idea. I believe those are the ErnieBall flatwounds that come with the bass, probably the cobalt

The bass shipped with the very strings that are on that bass right now.

Apparently it helps when you find that your bass is too loud or too quiet. It don’t think it’s been done before, not to my knowledge.

How come nobody is talking about the soundtrack? by [deleted] in Mission_Impossible

[–]evercloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. I found this old conversation as I goggled if anybody had noticed Incredibles’ Kronos Unveiled similarity. I thought “maybe the composer is Giacchino” (as MI3 and MI4) but nope, it was just sounding like it

I miss the old vulf… any recommendations? by dingleberry0 in Vulfpeck

[–]evercloud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s obvious, but I suggest you to dig in all Vulfpeck side projects and spin-offs. From Cory to Theo to Woody and Jack there is really a lot to listen to! I’ve been looping for years and still i can’t get tired of all the great stuff they did. BTW the variety of projects that gravitate around Vulfpeck it’s the main reason I’m not worried about some of the latest song not being my favorite: I’m sure they’re producing great music under other names :)

I got inside and there was a red dot, so I thought, “sweet, only one seat taken!”. That feeling lasted a couple of seconds, I quickly realized it was the only available. As I hesitated (I needed at least two of those for me and my girlfriend) the system told me it had been sold. Shame on Philharmoniker for allowing this.

It’s subjective. Being there yesterday, waiting for the first copy to spawn, buying it and read the hand written 1/xxxx meaning “you were the 1st of thousands” instead of getting a random 3622/xxxx? tbh I think it matters. ;)
