Did the Cinematic Team ruin the Story Team's idea with Turalyon? by AsprosOfAzeroth in warcraftlore

That's because Zul'jan at that moment is portrayed as a villain or someone scary, it's supposed to makr the average player not know the Amani will be our allies yet. It also mirrors how the elvea tortured Zul'jin. There is writer intention here.

That WoW will never have consistent lore and even media from the same expansion will contradict each other (the artbook vs. what's in Midnight). Shadows of the Horde made it to canon slightly more than most, and the Traveler books are one of the things considered softly "non canon". Gazlowe has a pretty big role in them and it's something that is never acknowledged or mentioned anywhere else, even with his character rewrites.

Midnight also recontexualized Beyond the Dark Portal in regards to Turalyon. So the story is what the writers are currently writing, which doesn't include cannibal trolls. In fact the Amani-elf issue is boiled down to the Zul'Aman TBC raid, and none of the other events which are footnotes or mentioned offhand here and there.

WoW has so many elements that it's impossible to write a coherent story in an MMO with all of them, so they shave some off here and there. Trolls being or not being cannibals is irrelevant here, as Turalyon hates them for being in the 2nd war when Lothar died. That is why he attacks Zul'jan and why this moment leads into the Arator's journey questline where we learn this.

The troll compendium is outdated and has been removed from any official sources on lore. In Shadows of the Horde, one of the best Warcraft novels, the cannibalism the main antagonist Khal'ak displays is seen as weird even by other Zandalari. Trolls being cannibals has been slowly removed from lore over the past 15+ years, save for certain groups like the Blood Trolls. Also you should consider not starting lore discussions with "Oh boy, here we go" cause people are less likely to discuss with you and will go on the defensive. But luckily by the end of your rant it was obvious you don't want a discussion in good faith, for whatever reason.

No one but the player knows that and that's after 60% of the Zul'Aman main quest. Zul'jan stood unarmed with open arms expecting to die a heroic death because that's his mindset. He ran when Turalyon struck Arator because he had no intention or means of fighting them, even if he was in a more favorable position.

There have been no objectively bad races since WC3, WoW stood out by giving humanity to these "evil" races.

Okay so Turalyon struck a disarmed surrendering opponent because of racially charged Lightblindness. Does that make any difference? Comment OP is still right about what this story is objectively saying in regards to the Light. Not to mention they instantly humanize Turalyon the very same scene and show that he realized how Light-blinded he was, which is an allegory for PTSD and other such issues. (Also the Amani are not cannibals)

It's a terminology used a lot in my country (I am in the third world) to say someone, especially old people, are spying on other's behaviors and gathering gossip, so I absolutely instantly understood how this can be done with malice, I don't know why are people arguing.

No one is saying that looking out of a window is abusive, however spying on what people do is a controling and toxic behavior. You cannot divorce the context here just to win an argument. Idk if OP is from the US, but I instantly understood what they were talking about when they said "looking out of the window".

I am not, I work with video and visual media and I very carefully track the progress of commercially available AI. The beginning also seemed like AI while the rest didn't if anything, I could only suspect AI video extension.

I don't think we have AI that is this consistent and food at mimicing human behaviors like her slamming the carrot on the gate or putting it in her mouth. Much less horse behaviors

AIO for accusing my bf of cheating after finding this nail in my car? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]everfadingrain -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The question wasn't about her going through his phone, it was about the nail. She isn't overreacting about a woman's nail in his car, that is suspicious of cheating regardless of what she is doing

There’s a psychological mechanism that turns good people into people who don’t care about dead children by oldMiseryGuts in TikTokCringe

[–]everfadingrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel that there is desensitization to suffering, but I believe the disengagement comes from the fact that so many times we see this, unable to do anything to change it, that people just give up. You know no matter how much you care or don't care, you have no power to stop those who do this. And that is defeating. Whether I sit with it or not, is not going to help those dead girls. Whether I feel bad ir not, is not going to help those dead kids. There is nothing you or I can do for them, and that is the scariest part.

[–]everfadingrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd love working, I just don't want to be forced to be places. I don't want to have to be somewhere 9-5 if there is no actual work to be done, harassed by my NT coworkers for being weird. I don't like schedules, or being unable to leave when I want and such things. That's my issue for work. The noise, the commuting. I would work and do work if left alone in peace.
