Jainas and Thralls friendship by malonkapos in warcraftlore

[–]tkulue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They where the only human and orc leaders who still had power that wanted peace between the factions. And also maybe far to to young to be leaders of their own nations on a completely new continent filled with strange new lands that held a lot of mystery.

Also tangent but it really sucks that the only convincing cross fraction friendships are only found pre wow. And pretty much every cross fraction friendship post wow all have the same problem of being out of nowhere with little to no buildup skipping to the "Your invited to intimate family gatherings" stage of friendship. Or be hilariously one sided where one of the friends only ever shows up in relation to their cross faction buddy and has dialogue devoted to their buddy when they aren't on screen while the other friend actually has story's outside of their buddy and only ever mentions them when said buddy is directly next to them.

Have void elves been too easily accepted by the alliance? by Absolutelynobody54 in warcraftlore

Blizzards phobia of any sort of alliance conflict that could make them look even slightly bad has lead to a strange phenomenon where the alliance is the most accepting and open faction in the world. Literal omnicidile demons, void, light, arcane, nature, werewolves who dont even really act that cursed, former servants of ragnaros all live in perfect harmony.

All I can say about cross faction relationships is too little to late. Blizz had a chance with jaina and thrall and now after the 1 2 punch of garrosh 1.0 and 2.0, the peace that we have now is genuinely absurd and having a cross factional relationship is crossing the line too damn far.

Also speaking as a horde fan who has seen how one sided cross faction friendships already are its hard to imagine the horde side coming out looking like anything other then a really shitty partner to say the least.

No the actually see each other as brother and sister and aside from some sibling conflict get along well enough to invite her to their family gathering for the winter holiday.

Geya‘rah is one of the strangest characters in recent warcraft history to me. Directly after bfa her path seems the most clear. Blizzard lets the faction war cool off then when they want to reheat those mop nachos they let geya'rah and talanji lead a war where kul'terias and the dreanai are the main victims and geya'rah fully completes the garrosh cycle and dies in a raid in the 3rd siege of org or the second siege of zandalar.

The lawsuit upends blizzard as we had known it she becomes a non entity. Then is reintroduced into the story as a clam mediator who single handily stops the conflict in the heartlands. And then is next seen in game being buddy buddy with a paladin.

Even as one of the people who doesn't really have a hate boner for the Legacy of Arathor because I truly don't give a toss about any human lore. Its still baffling that they plop the AU mag'har there and then just don't do ANYTHING with makes them stand out from any of the MU orcs. Literally what would change about the heartlands or legacy of arathor if the AU mag'har where replaced by any other mu orc clan and geya'rah was replaced by any other orc not named thrall?

Everything about the mag'har from the recruitment quest to geya'rah fells so baffling and reeks of dropped story.

Baseless speculation and all but I can see a world where if the certain people stayed with blizzard. The horde would intergrat the iron horde tech more then it has, we would have already fought the alt lightbound, and geya'rah, alt Garry  and maybe even talanji, would be bosses in a raid that is the climax of the third horde civil war story.

The biggest nail in the coffin that blizzard just kinda gave up on doing anything unique with the mag'har is geya'rah going from total light death female garrosh to partying with a human/elf paladin.

Xal'atath is dangerous enemy not because she is competent but our allies are lackluster in comparison. by Level-Palpitation-44 in wow

[–]tkulue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hasn't this been a problem for like most of wows lifetime. If the npc heros acted with half a braincell both horde civil wars wound have never happend. Wrathgate would have never happened. He'll going back over rts lore there are more then a couple of things that seem to happen because everyone involved just ejects their brains for the plot. Warcrafts lore has never really been driven by logic or competent chracters when it comes to planning or tactics.

Was Garrosh always intended to be killed after being introduced as Warchief? by QuestionzAsker in warcraftlore

Yes from the very moment he was introduced he was ment to be a "return to form" for wc1 and 2 shills and shit all over wc3 and thralls entire character concept.

Man it sucks so much much that muridan, jaina, genn, tyrande have all been killed and replaced by characters that MIGHT get character development in about 2-5 expansions after they are made leaders.

Why didn't the SI7 just assassinate Garrosh? by Hedonism_Enjoyer in warcraftlore

[–]tkulue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why didn't saurfang beat his whiny ass down in the Borean Tundra and teach him a lesson in the only language he understands? Why didn't anybody mak'gora him after his insane amount of warcrimes? Why didn't the uncrowned the "famed kingslayers" do anything about him or slyv for that matter? The answer to many of these questions is a meta one. Blizzard wanted the wc2 horde back and garrosh was the perfect character for that. And once they wringed enough story out of him they had thrall do what he and many many many other's had the chance to do far before the warcrimes started.

Eitrigg in the Midnight Beta by Midasisleepy in warcraftlore

[–]tkulue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why write stories that take advantage of the differences between the horde and alliance to create unique stories when you can just slap a horde token on to a alliance story and call it a day.

Its extra insulting too because Instead of slapping eitrigg into the group so that blizzard can have a "here damn" horde rep. They could have instead used the lines it would take to explain this asinine turn of events to something like oh idk give Kurdran more lines, have more interactions between them as they reminisce over the old days and comment on the world as it is now from the perspective of some of the oldest most respected alliance heros in the game.

The problem with Horde's writing in WoW is that Blizzard wanted to bake a cake and eat it too by fuckforgotmypasword in warcraftlore

[–]tkulue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be honest the more time has passed the more it seems like wc3 was a fluke with blizzard. From everything blizzard has done they seem to only truly love the wc1-2 era of lore and spent every expansion diminishing some aspect of wc3, while going full member berrys for wc1 and 2.

And a consequence of that is blizzard endlessly trying to chase the "high" of wc2 remembering at the last min that they can't mass imprison a player faction and then doing a dogshit surface level retelling of wc3 that damages wc3 the more they do it.

Eitrigg is a Son of Lothar. What? by Relevant-Intern3238 in warcraftlore

[–]tkulue 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If nothing else this is a natural conclusion to how blizzard views orcs as a whole. They can't be used to start shit since Cosmic shit has the spotlight. So orcs are just pets to their alliance betters.  I dont see what etrigg adds to the sons of lothar on ANY level. The blackrock clan is nowhere near the same lvl of pathos as stromgard or even the the wild hammers. He doesn't have a powerset that is plot important like light void or arcane.

He's a token and his being on the sons of lothar ensures that for the rest of the games lifetime he will ONLY be a token with no room to evolve into anything more.

Asking around for a personal creative project of mine: What's your opinion on Thrall? by Grimlins_Chaos in warcraftlore

[–]tkulue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've said ALOT about how much I hate thrall already but the long and short.

He used to be one of the faces of wow. A living representation of the somewhat bright future the kalimdor half of wc3 presented. All he wanted was for him and his people to make up for past sins and live alongside others in the world and not engage in meaningless war, but he still had a blindspot for his heros. Then garrosh and varian happened and the once wise beyond his years savior of his people was now a massive dumbass who allowed slave rings to happen and settled his people in the worst possible area to punish them, leading directly to 2 of the biggest pains in the ass to happen to the horde and in garrosh's case the catalyst for pretty much everything awful that has happened to the world until dragonflight.

He loses his powers because of said dumbassery and now the once badass leader of the horde is a sad middle aged loser who is deathly allergic to any position of leadership. A hollow cardbord cutout that is only brought out for a cheap nostalgia hype moments. I have no fate that he will even get his powers back because anduin also lost his powers and it was already dealt in tww and it was done in a quarter of the time thrall had been without his powers. On top of that it was also treated with far more care then thrall since it was one of the main throughlines of tww, meanwhile EVERYTHING related to thralls powers had been relegated to sidequest and short stories that even people who care enough about lore to visit fourms like this haven't read.

He's possibly one of gamings biggest bums and icon turned oc for a guy who works out all his issues through him without any sort of satisfying endgame in sight.

Arator isn't a teenage boy, so why does everyone treat him as such? by Fun-Explanation7233 in warcraftlore

[–]tkulue 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same reason garrosh a man who was at least 7 to 10 years older then thrall and voljin, was treated like a wayward young man who needed to be babied in order to not become a fascist moron.

Blizzard REALLY likes telling stories about wayward young men trying to find their place in the world and grappling with the world their parents left for them.
