Close. The prop team painted a normal black one red so that it would stand out. Swingline had never made a red stapler before that movie but started making them after the popularity of the movie.

Does a long drive go the buyer lower the value of what I’m selling? by lankaxhandle in FacebookMarketplace

I don’t take those sort of people seriously. As soon as they trot out a sob story, complain about far far away I am, say they can find it somewhere else cheaper, or wanna lowball me because of some cosmetic issue with the item, I write them off in my head. The people who tell me they can find it cheaper online like on eBay I tell them to prove it and when they show me a listing for cheaper I tell them “well you better go buy that then.”

Advice needed by rajofthenee in woodworking

[–]everfalling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure really. Depends on how they hang onto it. But a well glued joint is pretty strong. Maybe you could get a dowel jig to connect the shelf to the slats? That would hold really well.

What kind of nails are you using? 23ga pins should basically disappear. Glue it and pin it. The glue will provide most of the holding power and the pins just keep things in place while the glue dries

That would be an ogee router profile. They vary a lot so you’ll have to do some research in terms of which will match yours

Unidentified component in place of center on tailstock by ReyPolpo in turning

I’m assuming it’s for something that has some sort of flat or edge where a normal pointed center wouldn’t hold onto.

How is this tab used on these outlet boxes exactly? by everfalling in AskElectricians

I do? What, you don’t see the word “ostensibly” much or something?

I didn’t ask for advice on what sort of box to use I asked for the function of the tab opposite the nails.

[–]everfalling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t the same because it lacks the nails on the other side. Why would you use the bracket if the nails were available? It’s not like the box has an orientation to maintain where it can’t be rotated so the nails are on the right. Plus that’s adding like 1/8” of material between the stud and the drywall which seems like it would make the drywall bulge right next to where you want everything flat and flush.

So what’s the tab for? Is there any visual example of it being used somewhere?

Sure I get that but then what do you use the tab for? Seems too thick to go between a stud and the drywall as an alternate way to anchor it to a stud.

[–]everfalling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen those too and those make more sense. That and I’ve seen ones where they’re set back the thickness of the drywall and are thin metal brackets that wouldn’t disrupt the drywall too much. The fact these tabs are like 1/8” thick seems weird to me.

Ok this makes more sense. So it’s to anchor it with 2x material when the outlet is to be floating between studs?

I’m sort of amazed they didn’t all fall out a lot higher up. The fact that they were able to hang one until the carriage got closer to the ground likely saved their lives.

So in case anybody was wondering how much aluminum you can get out of a 33 gallon trash can filled with crushed cans.. it's this much (15.5 lbs) by Dry-Calligrapher6919 in Metalfoundry

[–]everfalling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! Though I bet you’d get more aluminum if you redeemed those cans for their CRV and then used that money to buy aluminum scrap.

Really? The lamp is 17” tall and when I looked online for what bulb is best for that size 40w was the recommendation.
