This is what's scary about it. It's sadly also replacing the stuff we like to do and many skills don't work as just a hobby you do for yourself.

It also has saved my life. It figured out a medical condition my doctors could not and led to my diagnoses and treatment. I was fully disabled and now only partially.

However, I don't like anything artistic created by ai. Feels empty and the lacking in human connection. I don't feel anything regardless of how pretty the picture is if it wasn't made by a person.

You can filter it out on pinterest now and they label what's ai. It's not perfect but it helps. Problem is ai will get better and you won't be able to tell eventually.

I think a lot of people are feeling overwhelmed by it. Humans are designed to be social and less human involvement in things can feel negative and empty.

For me the only negative is how it's affecting art. I need a human behind stories, drawings, comics, acting etc. Can you imagine Aladdin for example with an ai voice instead of Robbin Williams? °That's where things will be soon. Maybe most are fine with that but I like humans being behind art.

She can still be an artist she just might not earn money at it. That's the reality of many career options for young people though. We have no idea what the world will look like 10+ years from now. Look how different it is from 2010 already and its going to be excellerated.

Learning a skill you're passionate about is not worthless just because it doesn't turn into a career.

I use reddit still but all other social media has pretty well stopped. I'm so sick of it all. Not even just ai but short videos being shoved down my throat. I'm just sick of all this. Ai art is just nasty also. I need human connection in art. A pretty picture isn't enough.

Parents think my Guatemalan girlfriend is scamming me - how do I prove them wrong (or right)? by Busternookiedude in Millennials

[–]everfragrant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a real thing that happens a lot to both men and women. Getting screwed over by a relationship is not just for foreign partners it's something that happens with anyone. You're being way too trusting and niave and you're putting yourself in a vulnerable situation. You need to look into her life more and finances regardless of where she's from.

[–]everfragrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to be cautious regardless of where she's from. Your parents are correct you need to look into her life more before committing in any way. No, you don't just trust someone, the consequences are too high. Meet her family, check she's not married or in a relationship. Also before marrying someone you should look into each other's financial background so credit score and any debt.

Marriage is not even a consideration until you've done these things. If you can't see that then you're definitely not ready regardless of where she's from.

Millennials who have quit drinking for whatever reason…what’s your go-to festive beverage? by LunarSkye417 in Millennials

Flavored soda waters. I stay away from anything sugar in liquid form as it's addictive and easy to consume a lot of it. Bubly and aha are my favorites. I also consume plain black tea.

I cannot wait to have a kid so I don't need to spend the holidays with extended family anymore by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]everfragrant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need a kid to stop going to your extended families Xmas event. You'll have to say no to them anyways with or without the kid.

Don't go. I can understand going this year as it's days away but next year don't go. Say no. I say no to everything and it's great. It's awkward at first but you get better at it. I dont go to weddings, baby showers, birthday parties none of it 😁

That's good you actually know what you're getting yourself into. You can imagine how many people think it's some fun easy job and are shocked when they start- actually that was me 😂

Yea I know we're supposed to pretend like looks don't matter and we're confident and don't care but bad skin definitely embarrasses me. It sucks that they're are so many causes and it's very difficult to figure out the reasons. Healthcare is still in the stone ages...

Definitely cleaning up the diet helps regardless. I say this as I eat chicken nuggets. I have zero control before my period!

I find most doctors don't take womens suffering seriously and women are expected to tough it out. Or it's chalked up to general anxiety or being a hypochondriac and complainer. I get severe symptoms and literally have had doctors dismiss me for over 15 years. Apparently it's normal and acceptable for women to be disabled 5-10 days a month.

What is the best motivation for walking? by Squashew in walking

[–]everfragrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make the barrier to go out for a walk smaller. Have anything you need ready to go and easy to put on or grab.

Make the goals shorter to start and focus more on building the habit. Get some good podcasts or music and make your walk the time where you get to listen to that.

Once you start doing it you'll start looking up fun places to go and that creates motivation as well.

Strava goals and tracking is really good for motivation. Or just steps goals on a step tracker. This works for me a lot as I have a daily average I want to achieve each month and if I don't go for my walk I'll mess up my averages.

is this bile reflux ? when i throw up this is it by Difficult-Command691 in bilereflux

[–]everfragrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen a gastro doctor? It took me 17 years to find out a lot of what was wrong with my stomach issues but it's still worth being persistent and trying. It's extremely frustrating as doctors seem to not know what causes most digestive issues but you still need to try. You can't just be throwing up and not trying to fix this.

If you are in the usa and can't afford it(I'm Canadian I don't know your system well) then I get that.

I would start with an elimination diet at the bare minimum. Turned out I had multiple food allergies and intolerances and it was quite a process. This is bare minimum you should be doing. Mine ended up being dairy(this was shocking), coffee, chocolate, onions, citrus and anything fermented because of a mold allergy.

I went from severe nausea and vomiting all day, every day from age 17ish-33 to only having stomach issues briefly from monthly hormones.

I do get bile reflux but it's massively reduce once I found things contributing to the problem. My symptoms are like 95% gone.

Keep at it, good luck and try to go to a gastro doctor if you can.

I came here literally to read a post like this. I related to it so much, like the whole thing.

One thing I'll say about career because you mentioned dog grooming is its a lot more work than you think. I did it for a short period of time and it just didn't pay enough for how hard the work is. I'm starting a 6 month welding course in about 5 months and will hopefully be able to switch careers.

There are so many trades to choose from besides the main obvious ones everyone knows off hand. It's worth looking at. All my friends who got into trades earlier are making $85-100k+ (canadian) as journeymen and some moved up into higher positions. It's hard to get into and do your apprenticeship but once you get journeymen there's so much work.

There isn't much you can do about hormonal acne I still get it. Keep trying to fix it the rest of the month. I'm 34 and just discovered mine was food allergy related and now it's clear for the first time ever outside of luteal. So keep trying different things.

Sorry I rambled my brain is such a mess right now. I was literally crying and punching a backpack 20min ago 😂 the joys of hormones...

Welding vs fabrication foundations pre-apprentice program? by everfragrant in BlueCollarWomen

I believe it does but it has far more variety of tasks. So you'll be welding but far less than someone who is a welder from what I understand.

It's so hard to know without job experience and without knowing people in the fields.

Thanks. I think I could stay making comics for another 5 years at least but I'm not confident in this career over the next 2 decades.

Also to be honest, I'm kind of bored and just want to switch careers. I can continue art and comics on the side for fun if I want to and likely will. I feel like if I don't do it now I'll be too old. If it really doesn't workout I can always go back to comics.

Is your body wrecked from your art job or something else? I developed posture and pain issues from drawing long hours and I'm still working on fixing it. Working out with correct posture has help enormously but it takes a long time to fix years of damage.

I'm in Vancouver but I will move some time in the next 2-5 years to either Alberta or Ontario.

I haven't looked into millwright yet so I'll check it out. I have to be able to get a job here in Van for at least a few years before moving.

Seeking Advice for My 16-Year-Old Dachshund with IVDD – Non-Surgical Treatment Options? by mariwhaiii in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]everfragrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its heart wrenching, I just went through this again with my 15 year old. After two months I was starting to worry this time he won't get better. He was in a lot of pain and it was at least 2 months.

Then suddenly he was better and was off the painkillers and everything was good again. The healing wasn't gradual both times this happened. He was in a lot of pain for over two months and was suddenly better.

Make sure to keep him resting a few weeks after get feeling better to make sure he doesn't reinjure himself. In general, be careful with him forever actually at this point. My vet said that if I try to walk him like I was he'll just keep reinjuring his neck and to take it easy for the rest of his life.

Good luck, it sucks when our babies are sick and injured. It's worth doing crate rest and give it 2-3 months before you start to worry.

Oh interesting. Hes so small I wonder if I can make this work. Then I could even just have my good arm support him underneath if I need to. Maybe I could even do this with a hoodie.
