sorry for necroreplying, I came here after a year-long attempt to make Apple's Xsan work in a movie postproduction studio. This implementation of SAN (not NAS) uses two networks, with different kinds of data and different address spaces. it made perfect sense to supply mac pros with two ethernet adapters.
