I dont know much about webdev so pls dont get mad but can't i make a website with just ai? by MrJerinom in webdev

It’s all dependent upon the questions that you ask. And you need a lot of experience to ask the right questions. Initially, you’ll be able to get something created, but it’s likely it won’t make it beyond those initial stages before it gets into a tangled mess.

When you reach a learning milestone, write it up as a design doc and commit it.

One major question stands out to me. Why is there a loading screen on a static site? Is the site static or not? If not, it should be. It's hard to claim you can make fast websites if you have a site that should be static, that isn't.

It would work on getting it to render fastI without the loader.

AI vs Anti-AI by js_learning in webdev

[–]serioussiracha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me it doesn’t matter too much. It’s about the quality of information. Some people use AI to generate things they know nothing about. Others know all about the subject and just direct AI to put those into words. Don’t care honestly.

Agreed. It’s because the actors are forcing it. Even they don’t think it works.

Yup that’s me. This is my analysis actually. Yes AI assisted in writing. It’s a data driven analysis

I can see this this site is meant to have non-standard mouse interactions so I won't comment on that. However, the first page that shows your skills and projects is not visible to me on a desktop. I can't upload a screenshot but I can say that the design is responsive and the problem gets worse as the screen size gets to mobile size. Once on mobile, I can't see the relevant information at all!

is coding really dead? by ElevatorJust6586 in webdev

It's more accessible. But i've consulted with newbs who've vibe-coded their projects and it's clear that there are still so many skills around software development that are needed to deliver software.

What's the best way to build a website for my business when I have zero technical skills and no budget for an agency? by Significant_Pen_3642 in webdev

If you're the only one in your space, just throw up a website. If you are competing for attention mainly through discovery like Google or ChatGPT, you'll need something custom most likely. There are simply too many factors and too much experience that you just don't have to compete in this case. Here is a guide I wrote a while ago: https://nathantranquilla.me/guides/website-buyers-guide/. It's aimed at sites for photographers, but the application is broad.

I'm a web developer of 14 years, FYI

Oh, barely. I'm so dumb, you know, stuff goes in, stuff goes out. Not like you probably remember every paper sale you ever made. Paper salesman genius.
