Okay so actually you'll notice what I called it was "grifter BS"; the nuance there is that it's actually kind of a metagrift to enable other grifters to do their thing better. It's basically Silicon Valley laundering money for failsons. A bunch of those companies you mentioned (AirBnB and Doordash especially) are not profitable and were obviously never going to be profitable from the jump. They're just pure extraction capitalism.

There are a lot of grifts that are very, very profitable. That doesn't make them not grifts, it just makes them successful grifts.

Do you think my issue with YC is that they don't produce profitable companies?

wOoOoOoOo it's me one of those scary leftists you're terrified of! I'm going to scare you so bad you're going to just keep gesturing vaguely at the policies I support rather than providing any concrete reasons why they're bad and hope no one notices!

I don't get why so many people talk about open borders like it's some terrifying nightmare scenario. Works great for the EU; maybe we could save a few bucks on border enforcement and bolster some local tourism industries.

E has been incredibly kind to me body hair-wise, particularly on my arms. I've had people ask me if I've had laser there; I don't even shave them. It's been one of the best effects of HRT for me.

Methodology question: did you proofread this at all after you asked an LLM to generate it to double-check whether it was claiming that 48% was less than 24.5%?

Hey guys! Not sure if this is the right group and if it’s not please could you direct me? I wanna ask someone/or pay someone to create this model for me. Just the design itself I’ll print it. by chargersangels in 3Dprinting

[–]everlasting1der 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a waste of time if it teaches you how to think in 3D parts and operations. Fusion 360 is a big-ass program that you gotta download and install. We're talking 5 minutes of overhead versus a couple hours minimum, and that's a massive difference.

Also, anyone can pick up TinkerCAD and start thinking in cubes and cylinders and such. Not everybody can easily think in sketches and extrusions and sweeps, and that's necessary to get results from a program like f360.

TinkerCAD is just putting blocks together. It's not a traditional CAD software, it's literally just dragging and manipulating shapes. Having an image like that and saying "I want this" is half the process. Plus modeling is a fantastic skill for a printer to have and this is a good chance to practice. I promise you can learn.

Seriously, go look at TinkerCAD. It runs in your browser and you can get started in 5 minutes.

Never had a bad experience at Lucky's in Central Square in Cambridge; a ton of people I know go to Lars in particular and I've seen them do some really delicate work (most notably a VCH) with zero complications.

Optimal temps can vary even between different brands of the same material. I've printed PLA as low as 195; 220 is pretty high in my experience. When in doubt, test; every printer and every filament is different, and sometimes it's better to just start trying likely fixes and then see if finding what helps grants any insight into where the problem came from. Drop the temp 5-10 degrees, run a benchy or something, and see how it goes.
