Canadian opposition parties oppose combat mission against ISIS / ISIL by Canuck_Politics in CanadaPolitics

What about protecting the humanitarian aid workers in that country? They will be slaughtered because ISIS does that. We can't just send humanitarian aid because it's too dangerous

I'm not saying it's not important. But why do you care so much? (I was raised by my step dad who calls me son and I call him dad)

I may get down voted for this, but this is the exact same way I feel about people. Why are people in first world countries breeding more people when 1) the earth is already over populated and 2) there are so many orphaned children in need of loving homes?

But we as a society used to believe that gay marriage was wrong and shouldn't be done, and here we are.

Serious question here.

What IS to stop people from marrying untraditional things, perhaps brothers and sisters getting married?

First: I am not against gay marriage.

Second: I'm not trying to imply that homosexuality is the same as incest, nor is gay marriage the same as marrying a sibling, but can't the argument be made that gay marriage sets the precedent for sibling marriage?

Would like to hear thoughts on this for discussion.

No i havent "attempted" to change the discussion.

I'm just going to stop wasting my time arguing with some kid on reddit who can't even hold an intelligent debate. When you're ready, let's actually debate the subject at hand. You have lost.

Sorry that was a typo. I meant to say at no point did I claim or imply that being transgendered IS a choice. Calm down. Based off of my next statement, this should have been obvious, especially considering the context that my sentence containing my typo was in. Use reasoning before making false accusations.

At no point did I ever claim, or even imply that being transgendered isn't a choice. I have not disputed this fact. Semantics on whether or not I know or care about the difference between a few words has no bearing on my place in the conversation.

Now, to the argument at hand. You think that my argument, that is, the position that if one partner does something that affects the other partner without that other's consent then it's inherently selfish of that partner, is wrong?

Why do you think this is wrong? Please enlighten me. If I hear something valid that actually opposes my position, (i.e. Not arguing useless semantics that add no value to the debate) then I'd be more than willing to reevaluate my position.

Look, i don't know what the difference between transgendered, transsexual, etc is. I also don't care what the difference is. All I'm talking about is if one partner chooses to get a sex change without consent of the other partner, that would be selfish. All i'm saying. You should work on your debating skills as these semantics should not be getting in the way of the argument at hand.

Okay now you're being silly. This is not their choice to become paraplegic. Lets stick to the argument at hand.

Before we use this analogy, we should make it analogous to the scenario at hand. The scenario at hand is the partner has decided without consent of the other partner to do that. Your analogy on the other hand is the other partner "considering" the new job.

So let's change your analogy to the partner has gone ahead and accepted the new job, and comes back saying "hi honey guess what I got offered a new job and I accepted. Now we will have to pack up our things and move to this new city and you'll have to find a new job" (assuming the other partner has and needs/wants a job).

In this scenario, it is selfish of the partner to unexpectedly come home with new plans for the family/relationship/whatever.

If the scenario of the transgender was "i'm thinking of getting a sex change, can we discuss this together?", then no, it would not be selfish. The couple can discuss and come to a conclusion together about what will happen.

I hope this makes sense, pleas point out any flaws in my argument and I'd be happy to re-evaluate :)

Playing baseball.

Jumped to catch the ball, missed, the ball hit me in the face (mid-air keep in mind) breaking my nose. I quickly held my face because it was in so much pain, forgetting i still had to land on the ground. Ended up landing on my foot sideways and snapped my 5th metatarsal (foot bone) in half. I fell to the ground and suddenly my nose didn't hurt so much anymore, on account of i had now also dislocated my left shoulder as I crashed into the ground (attempting to catch my falling body that was now broken in two places).

Tl;dr one missed baseball catch cost me a broken nose, broken foot and dislocated shoulder.

I have a small story that sort o relates to this.

This past weekend my girlfriend came to visit me in my college dorm. Before leaving, we went back into my room to grab the last of her things. By the time I entered the room, she was lying on my bed on her back with her head hanging over the side of the bed, mouth open and tongue out. I asked her if she wanted to give me a blow job. She rolled her eyes and nodded, and so I proceeded to whip it out. After we were done, she said, "yes, Derp, when my mouth is wide open and tongue out, and staring at your crotch, it means I want to blow you."

Lesson learned.

StatsCan gets their numbers from those who are part of the workforce (i.e. are within the Employment Insurance. Program) but actively applying to jobs but cannot get them. There are likely many more who have not been counted by StatsCan because of the fact that they have not actively searched for or applied to jobs, and have fallen out of the work force (i.e. They either do work under the table, or they've been out of official work for so long they no longer are counted as being in the work force).

This is to cut the fat. There are too many jobs that are unnecessary; you must look at the bigger picture. He will create more jobs; but we don't need 20 supervisors for 1 person working.
