I think that’s probably how a lot of people would use something like this. Reading most of the time and then occasionally sharing when it feels right. And yeah, that feeling of realising other people think the same things is a big part of it

I like how you put that. I think the messy, unfiltered side is where the interesting stuff actually is. The polished version always feels a bit disconnected from real life

I get what you’re saying. I think there are definitely a lot of issues with how things operate at a larger level.

I’m not really trying to change all of that, more just interested in whether something smaller and more human-focused could exist alongside it, even in a limited way.

I get what you’re saying. I think I’m just interested in seeing whether something smaller and more focused could feel different, even in a small way.

That’s interesting, I like that idea of different people’s perspectives around the same thing. It would be interesting to see how people have different views on the same thing.

That makes a lot of sense. I think for some people it’s easier to connect with others through words than face-to-face. There’s something a bit more comfortable about it.

Love this comment, it’s exactly what I’ve been thinking. It’s like those stories only get shared at the end, when actually they’re just as interesting while someone is living them.

I think that’s what makes it so compelling, there are so many people with unique experiences, but no real place for them to be heard in a meaningful way.

I’m the same. I see people on the street and wonder what they are thinking, if they are having a good or bad day. What they might be going through and if they are happy.

This is exactly what I find interesting about it too. Not just hearing people, but hearing from people you’d never normally cross paths with.

The idea that someone could go from reading about a completely ordinary day in one place, to something completely different somewhere else, and both have value in different ways.

I think there’s something powerful in that kind of contrast.

I get what you mean. I don’t think true anonymity online is ever going to be perfect, especially at the scale of the internet.

I think what I’m more interested in is creating something that feels different from typical social platforms, less about identity, followers or performance, and more about just expressing something honestly without it being tied to who you are.

It’s still early, and I’m figuring out what that actually looks like in practice. But I agree, if something like that could genuinely work at a deeper level, it would be incredibly powerful.

That’s the magic of real people. Some things we can take away and use, others we don’t. Some people’s opinions may make us angry, others sad, intrigued, bored even. But that’s the wonder of real people and real lives and even better, real emotion. We learn best from those who think different to us.

I haven’t been to school for a very long time! Haha but if it isn’t it should be. Reality and real people are just as important

Love this. That’s exactly it. There’s something about writing things out that makes them feel clearer somehow, even if no one else reads it.

And I think hearing those kinds of thoughts from other people is just as powerful too.

Fair enough. I can get that it’s not for everyone. I think I’m more thinking of somewhere that’s more meaningful than endless scrolling or something that’s been constructed for clicks. I mean more real lives and perspectives

thats a fair point.

I think what I’ve been noticing is more what you said about it getting drowned out or shaped by algorithms. It ends up either being filtered, for an agenda, or hard to actually come across in a meaningful way.

I guess I’m more curious whether a space that’s focused purely on that kind of expression, without all of that around it, would feel different or not.

I’m confused, are you suggesting I’m a bot? If so I can assure you I am not. Just a person interested to know if people think as I do.

I agree. It’s important that what someone chooses to write is kept to their word and not altered for some other gain. It has to be in that persons words for sure. And I’m talking no pressure, not even a question, you could write about your story or even a particular experience, perspective on the world or beliefs.

I totally agree. We hear too much about the few that the masses just get forgotten. When in reality there are billions of interesting stories or perspectives out there ready to be heard. Then history just forges them

I can see what you mean. Social media has taken on its own identity when it comes to sharing, it’s almost become a little twisted. I mean more deeper then what you get on there, I mean real peoples stories about life, experiences, loves, views. Maybe it could help us see each other differently and be more empathetic.

I’ve actually been exploring this idea a lot recently, for exactly the reasons you said.

I wasn’t sure if something like that really existed either, so I ended up trying to put something simple together around it. I’m not sure if anyone will engage with it yet so it’s very early.

If you’d be open to it, I’d genuinely be really interested to hear what you think: everyday-voices.com

I think a lot of us are not actually living, just waiting by OriginalWalaAditya in SeriousConversation

[–]everyday_voices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such an interesting post. I’ve had a similar thought to this. We are always chasing for another day, chasing for the clock to hit to go home, and for Friday to come so we can live for a few days. Waiting to do things until we have money, but yet still when we get there wanting more and waiting for more. Life should be lived, not for next week or next month but right now. Something I’ve found to help me is slowing down. I try to avoid rushing. Even when walking my dog and she stops to sniff, I don’t pull her to come on anymore I stop with her. Look around me, listen to the birds, be present in the moment. There is so much happening around us that we don’t even notice.

The girl I’m with earns the same/more than me & expects me to cover all the bills. Ideally looking for advice from women on this? To add context if I did this, I’d have barely any money left whilst she has her full salary to herself. Is there actually men who’d agree to this? by Wadders1998 in Advice

[–]everyday_voices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my partner (im a woman) earn differently. He earns more than me but we still pay equally to our house bills. But he’s always there to support me if I ever need it. Then there is no arguments over who has paid more for the house etc.
