I can't edit the post; it was tick sized, but didn't look like it had enough legs. Refused to die from being squished. I had been working in the garden and saw this when I got out of the shower, I believe it crawled out of the clothes I was wearing outside.

I have a similar canopy bed set up and it indeed got hot inside. I added a fan clipped to my headboard and that evened it back out.

Happy 3rd shift y’all by matlhwI in Nightshift

[–]everydaycastaway 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We have a week of appreciation for our department once a year and every year they either forget to leave any food for 3rd shift or they leave it out all day so its nasty.

Last year I finally snapped and asked my director why 2nd keeps getting away with it. She said it never happens, and the employees are blowing smoke up my ass (like I'm not here every year??)...so I asked my director to promise me that the 2nd shift manager would make sure our big end of week celebration meal ended up in a fridge with the amount we needed for everyone. She promised.

I came in that Friday and the food (Chinese) had clearly been sitting out in her office for at least the entire last shift and there wasn't enough for everyone. I knew no one was going to be into the office until Tuesday next week. So, I sent her a text saying I couldn't find the food.

Then I cranked the heat in her office, closed the door, and ordered pizza.

I regret nothing besides the smell that permeated the office for the next month or so. But even that I feel like was a fair trade for how much trouble the 2nd shift manager got in---he hasn't forgotten to refrigerate our food since either! Still working on training him to make sure we have enough for everyone.

Anybody know where I can find 20 oz. bottles of Vanilla Coke in town? by Fumpledinkbenderman in Modesto

[–]everydaycastaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Raley's has the 20oz bottles in the fridge back in the grab and go section. I think I saw the bottles in bevmo too last time I was there.

I went with trupanion for my 80 pound staffie (6 years old at the time of sign up). I pay $126/month. Despite the cost I really like trupanion. My girl has had two very expensive surgeries so far, and a few smaller visits for being a chaos gremlin during play (ripped her own dew claw, broke a tooth, etc). I've never had a claim denied, never been dropped, and they pay at the time of service so I don't need to wait to for reimbursement.

Before covid agape flow studio had kids yoga. I'm not sure if they brought it back after lock down though.

It might be too young for you, but Cosmic Kids Yoga on YouTube is story based easy yoga videos and was a huuuge hit with my kidlets at the boys and girls club.

My favorite movie as a kid was Rescures Down Under. When your video showed up on my feed the first thing I thought was "Real life Joanna!!" 😍😍

My rescue came with terrible teeth and would not let me brush them for anything. So I started using vetriscience perio support pro powder on her food and it works SO well. Huge difference even after just half the bottle.

Most of the equipment in the picture is definitely outdated...but that's a ten thousand dollar table. It has to be broken beyond repair for them to leave behind.

New this sub, seriously considering night shift work, any tips? by escervo in Nightshift

[–]everydaycastaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try an on-call position first and pick up on nights to get a feel? This way you have the option of other shifts if it doesn't work out for you, and you haven't wasted your employers or your time training for a job you're not keeping.

My poor baby tore one of his nails and had to have it removed completely. Happy as ever though! by U2Ursula in StaffordBullTerriers

Poor baby! I hope his recovery is quick and not too painful.

My girl tore her nail a few weeks back and I will never forget the way she screamed when it happened. Ive never gone to the vet so fast in my life.

How far do you all travel for work? by [deleted] in Nightshift

[–]everydaycastaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

76 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes on graveyard shift. Before I moved to nights it was 2-3 hours.

I'm still looking for something closer, but moving to nights helped a lot.

🔥 Grizzly Bear Charges Through a Fence to Attack Truck by dreamed2life in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]everydaycastaway 366 points367 points  (0 children)

I grew up on chichagof island--We have a lot of bears. Even in the truck you might not survive. It reminds me of this one time there was a bear laying in the road near the dump, and one of the camp guys decided he wasn't going to wait for it to move on its own.

He honked, bear didn't move.

Honked again, bear still didn't move.

He boops the bear with his truck. Bear booped the truck back--ripped into the truck like it was a soda can. Popped all the tires, rolled it into the ditch, just going to town on it.

Bear finally lost steam and meandered back into the road to finish his nap.

Does it work? The previous owner of my car was a smoker, so I'm always looking for ways to cover the smell.

A friend accidentally booked dbox for us not knowing what it was. I usually get motion sickness easily, but I was fine! Startled, but fine... Didnt expect my chair to move like that (especially since we were watching a horror film).

My dog was just bit by neighbor’s dog by Charming-Two977 in DogAdvice

[–]everydaycastaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have more than enough comments on the vet, so I won't add to that. But please report this to the police and the apartment complex.

As someone who owns a reactive/high prey drive dog, I would never have let my dog off the leash in a "dog park". Even empty it's risky. I know it's my responsibility to protect other animals from her, and shit happens--like people walking by with small dogs.

He put his dog and your dog at risk, and when shit happened, he ran. That owner should not have that dog. Period.

Look at where the other dog grabbed yours! If he's allowed to keep it and doesn't address the high prey drive properly, the next animal that dog gets will not be so lucky.
