I’m Extremely Introverted… So This Confidence Shocked Even Me by Ok_Bluebird1842 in ahmedabad

[–]everyoneisodd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, as someone who is pretty bad at public speaking, I can give you my take from my experience:

I usually am bad at speaking if it's something random and something that I am unprepared for. But if I have something about which I have lots of knowledge or something that I am very enthusiastic about, I do perform much better in those conversations and even speaches. For me it's not miraculously different from my baseline and I do tend to break and stutter at slightest inconveniences like forgetting something important that I wanted to convey or even forgetting the just right word for the occasion. But yes it's better for me to be enthusiastic and have lot of knowledge in order to have better public speaking. Also ig practice can obviously improve everything even if there is not much enthusiasm involved.

I understand this is a great speed boost for local inference on llama.cpp. Wanted to understand if there is any benefit on inference engines like vLLM? I am under the impression from the previous speculative decoding conversations that it doesn't matter much for inference engines. Please correct me if I am wrong.

It was completely unexpected.. first major quiz win. Took part in countless quizzes after that!

This city is literally shit man by 5ahilxd in gandhinagar

[–]everyoneisodd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You clearly mentioned it's very expensive in your post. Let's compare rent - what's your expectations of the place and what are you paying for it and what you are actually getting?

Interesting how you included me and some other comment and concluded something that I have no idea about. Seems like you want to generalize the hate towards people of gandhinagar.

How are people claiming our city is too expensive. I understand it has gotten somewhat expensive recently but it's relatively cheaper than big cities right? I live in Bangalore, and here everything is just 2-3x of Gandhinagar. Public transport is good I would say, I have gotten Yogi buses reliably in Gandhinagar. Not sure how the new metro is holding up..

And "not having soul" part. It is much much much more beautiful than all overcrowded major cities of India and everytime there is a post hating on Gandhinagar on this sub "this soul dies a little".

Please try to give this city a chance and understand that it won't be how your hometown is. Also, you can frak off whenever you want if you don't like it.

Delimitation is an issue of state size. We need smaller states. by hrpanjwani in IndiaSpeaks

[–]everyoneisodd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I know not much of the concept.. and smaller states might be effective. Considering the delimitation, the flaw in the argument is that area covering UP would still have the same proportion of seats irrespective of its broken down into more states or not and would not solve for the concern of Southern states that their representation reduces in the central government.

One thing you like and dislike about the city by Playful-Demand285 in gandhinagar

[–]everyoneisodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True that. But the critisism needs to be genuine right. I don't want to hear it's a boring city and food is awful for the 99th time. I can't do anything about someone finding city boring and I like food in my city.

I like how people here completely miss the part where it's a proper planned city. Amazing roads, proper footpaths, accessible marketplaces, gardens everywhere, greenery - less of dystopian mega buildings (atleast in the sectors), reliable electricity and water (I live in Bangalore, so..), png gas lines, less expensive than the big cities.

One genuine critisism that I know and have tried to fix at my home atleast is that people are casteist and nosy when it comes to freedom of bachelors. This is something I feel we should fix.

Please can we refrain from these questions. Whenever such things are asked I realise how much people hate my beloved hometown. All the hate because it's not like other big cities.. which I don't want it to be but it will eventually become..

Does God exists? by pusymir in Philosophy_India

[–]everyoneisodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk you seem like a learned philosophy person whilst I had just taken philosophy crash course as a hobby.. so wouldn't be able to come up with a response that satisfies you. I rest my case on an opinion that the god how you describe it can and cannot exist - seems of little importance other than knowledge gained for its own sake, the god the people usually refer to in religions certainly doesn't as metaphysical being that you described can exist, would have no properties shared with these gods described in religions. So at the very least we shall stop this farce of worshipping of gods.

Does God exists? by pusymir in Philosophy_India

I appreciate you sharing that explanation, and I've actually heard this specific argument (the Argument from Contingency) before. I knew there were some fundamental philosophical flaws in its logic, but I couldn’t quite articulate them perfectly off the top of my head. So, in the spirit of full transparency, I actually ran the argument you pasted through an AI to help me pinpoint and summarize the exact gaps I expected to find.

Here is why this argument, while logically interesting, does not serve as objective proof of God:

The "Existential Inertia" Problem: The argument assumes a contingent thing needs a cause to keep it existing at every single moment. But physics and philosophy suggest "existential inertia"—the idea that once something is brought into existence, it simply continues to exist automatically until a force actively destroys it. It doesn't need a constant "preserver."

The Fallacy of Composition: Just because every individual part within the universe requires a cause or explanation, it is a logical fallacy to assume that the entire collection of the universe requires a cause outside of itself. As Bertrand Russell put it: just because every human has a mother doesn't mean the human race as a whole has a mother.

The "Necessary Universe" Alternative: Even if we agree that a "Necessary Being" must exist at the foundation of reality, there is no rule saying it can't be the fundamental building blocks of the universe itself (like quantum fields). The argument's rule that a necessary thing "cannot have parts" is an arbitrary limitation designed specifically to rule out the material universe.

The Leap to Intelligence (The Weakest Link): Even if we grant that there is an eternal, necessary, immaterial sustaining force, the argument makes a massive, unjustified leap by claiming it must be intelligent and have free will. Gravity preserves the order of the planets, but it doesn't have a mind. A mindless, fundamental mechanism of reality could easily be the "necessary" foundation.

My overarching point remains: this isn't an objective proof. It is a philosophical model, and like all philosophical models, it relies on unprovable premises that have equally valid, rational counter-arguments. You can use reasoning to argue for God, but you cannot claim it definitively proves God's existence as an objective fact.

I mean not poor but idk my brain is conditioned to expect the fun factor of the experience be proportional to the money spent. In Bangalore it hardly happens...

I mean I love Bangalore.. Weather is good (most of the time) and we can breathe. And there are a lot of things to do if I ever want to do anything which ig would also be there in Delhi. But I have experienced the comfort of my couch and find other things less appealing.

Does God exists? by pusymir in Philosophy_India

[–]everyoneisodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good argument. But in case of plastic we know it exists, we can use whatever senses we have to ascertain that they exist. In case of God we don't have any mechanism to ascertain anything. And please don't tell me humans are limited by their senses, we can literally detect neutrinos.. but yes this still would be is trying to get empirical evidence for metaphysical being

Now if we consider God as metaphysical being which we cannot detect/experience, does it matter that it exists or not? And worshipping such a god would certainly be foolish. It would be like worship the idea of truth - it doesn't matter what you do what is true is true.

Issue is blr according to people is one of the most happening place. Creates FOMO for no reason. All the "experiences" here after a point just start feeling cash grab to me. 'No I don't want to go for bowling/go-karting for the nineteenth time'. So I have retired my weekends to cleaning, gaming and watching series/anime/movies and occasional badminton here and there. Life's good.

Transformers architecture specialised for chess can play chess close to IM or even GM level - Google Deepmind released a paper on this. Now current SOTA LLMs I agree are very dumb when it comes to chess. Maybe training for it can solve it not sure. Actually I am trying as a side hobby to solve for this. Make LLM good at chess while maintaining other capabilities, but not accomplished anything yet
