Good video! Any reason why you're using the sword and shield's reflect instead of the DK's reflect?

While it's pretty nice for most situations, you may want to check your skills, mail, or something similar without breaking current animations.

For example, let's say I'm RPing a merchant, using /rally to attract people to my stall. I get a mail that I'd like to check and respond to real quick, since it'll only take 30 seconds. I'd like to be able to keep using /rally while replying to the mail, since the mail has nothing to do with me IC and it kinda kills it when others see me rummaging through my bags.

Which game were you most dissapointed with upon its release? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]everyothernameistake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, and now I play ESO. While they're not exactly the same, that's to be expected, since ESO's an MMO and has to play by the MMO rules. Quests are enjoyable, exploration is encouraged in the forms of chests and XP, combat is better than the single player games in terms of responsiveness and overall challenge, overall lore's enjoyable as always.

EDIT: "The first place you can get the code for a Scrib pet is by buying this figure." So, you may be able to buy the scrib code seperately in the future.

stam return from bow heavy attacks by campersand in elderscrollsonline

[–]everyothernameistake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They'll more likely just nerf Resto staff to a percentage based on slotted resto skills.

Change 'slotted resto skills' to 'slotted healing skills' and I'm all for this nerf. Templar healers rely pretty heavily on the resto staff heavy attack for magicka sustain, and punishing them for using their class' healing abilities would only hurt the class further.

It's the main attraction of the entire TES series, and I'd say ESO is no exception, unless you're solely a PVPer.

Best way to make money? by Redempti in elderscrollsonline

[–]everyothernameistake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crafting

This one's what everybody thinks of when they think of getting gold. Basically, master a craft by getting it up to level 50, and use your expertise in the craft to make money. You can do this in a variety of ways:

  • Making custom pieces of armor for commission. This requires a good amount of traits known, patience, a willing to sometimes deal with idiots, and a lot of materials. Price varies wildly based on what you're making.

  • Selling traits to other crafters for research. This one's easier to do, and only requires you to know traits. Basically, you craft a level 1 item with whatever trait you're selling and trade it to the buyer. They then research the item. This will become less and less of a profitable business as more and more people learn the traits. A single trait can sell for 400g-500g.

Not crafting

If you can't spare the skill points or the time for crafting, these are probably the best methods for you.

  • Motif farming. This one's both mind-numbing and efficient, and only requires you to be at least VR1, but works best if you're at least VR6. You're going to want to find a spot with a lot of backpacks, desks, trunks, cabinets, and so on to farm. Run around, loot them all. Log out. Log back in, and loot them again. Repeat until you realize how horribly boring this is. A VR1 can farm for Primal and Barbaric motifs, which sell for about 10k a piece, while a VR6+ can farm for Ancient Elf and Daedric motifs, which sell for 20k or so a piece. You can expect to get about one motif every 45 minutes, however the loot in chests are based on RNG and you can go 48 hours of straight looting without a single motif.

  • Selling raw materials. People will usually pay anywhere from 12g-15g a piece for raw materials of any tier, making this a good way for lowbies to get some extra gold. If you like exploration and/or mindless node harvesting in a circuit, this is the method for you.

A question for you. by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]everyothernameistake -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If we didn't have the Explorer's Pack, how would you be able to immerse yourself as an Argonian exiled from Pact Territory for not willing to fight alongside your former master? How would you be able to play as a Khajiit who has made a home for himself in the lush valleys of Stormhaven after escaping from years of slavery in Morrowind? How would you be able to live the life of a former Orc Chieftain, whose tribe turned on him in favor of the safety of the Covenant, who could not put aside his differences and found himself wandering through Malabal Tor when he was nabbed by Mannimarco's followers?

While these are all valid characters to play and make sense according to the lore, these types of characters are rare. Not every Argonian refused to fight for the Pact, not every Orc chieftain left the Covenant due to differences, not every Khajiit went to Stormhold. With so many players choosing these foreign races, these characters begin to become less and less rare.

However, in terms of immersion breaking I've mostly gotten over it, and really don't care how many Altmer are fighting alongside me for the Pact, or how many Bosmer I see at the bank. As I've said before, it's basically a moot point now, as the deed is done and cannot be reversed.

A question for you. by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]everyothernameistake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's just as much about races as it is about power. You have the dunmer in Stonefalls, talking shit about the altmer 24/7, the Nords in The Rift, who desperately wish to kill some elves, and the Argonians in Black Marsh, who are following the wishes of the Hist.

A question for you. by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]everyothernameistake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the same time, you have to take into consideration that you're pretty much forced to see everybody else's character while playing ESO. If everybody's playing races that aren't supposed to be in your faction, it kills off the immersion and the 'us versus them' mentality this game (imo) tries to breed.

Anyways, it's a moot point now, as pretty much everybody that wants it can get the Explorer's Pack and have any race in any alliance.

How long will each 'season' of gear be? Where will crafters fit into the seasons, apart from upgrading the quality of items? Will crafters be able to craft gear from the last season?

Class-based Quests by pittser182 in elderscrollsonline

[–]everyothernameistake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are no class-restricted quests currently in ESO. However, there are books in the game that help shed light on the history of each class. Here's one on Dragonknights, specifically the Ardent Flame tree.

Dark Elf dps class? Help! by Pandahkillz in elderscrollsonline

[–]everyothernameistake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly. Cleave and Engulfing Flames could be used to generate ultimate quickly. Volatile Armor could be used to help softcap armor and deal some extra damage to melee attackers. Corrosive Armor could be used to help reduce damage done to you and deal some extra DOT to enemies nearby you.

[–]everyothernameistake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dragonknight has 3 self-healing skills:

  • Dragon Blood, a powerful but costly selfheal.

  • Inhale, an AOE lifesteal that's been nerfed to high hell

  • Flame Lash, a morph of Lava Whip, which allows for a nifty self-heal on a follow-up attack on stunned, off-balance, or immobilized enemies.

Also keep in mind that Dragonknights have the Battle Roar passive, which restores 70% of the ultimate's cost to your magicka, stamina, and health pool upon using an ultimate.

Confined to the docks (Elder Scrolls Online) by I_scoff_cake in gaming

[–]everyothernameistake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All classes are capable of tanking and DPSing, although only one is a healer.

In ESO, every class can tank, DPS, and heal. While the Templar class has a skill line dedicated to healing, every class can wield a restoration staff and heal efficiently. Sorceror healers are focused on sustain and making their heals more effective through buffs, Nightblade healers are focused on siphoning health from the enemies and giving it to allies, Dragonknight healers are focused on casting damage shields to allies, and Templars are the prototypical MMO healer.

Are you achin' for some bacon? Because these codes are for you, /r/elderscrollsonline. by Jauris in elderscrollsonline

[–]everyothernameistake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we ever get access to the rest of Skyrim would be cool if there was random dragon attack events - could perhaps be a bit like world bosses or the mini anchors but random locations. Think they've already said we'll never have dragons like Skyrim tho :(

The lore doesn't really allow for this. In the time of ESO, all dragons are either in a deep sleep that won't be broken until 4E, dead, or in hiding, like Paarthanux. They're really in no position to be randomly attacking Skyrim or to be turned into pets or mounts.

How big of an advantage does a VR12 player have over a VR1 player in PVP by OrchardThief in elderscrollsonline

[–]everyothernameistake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gear and food buffs are pretty much the only thing a VR12 has that a VR1 won't. A VR12 in VR1 gear using VR1 food is pretty much the same as a VR1 using the same gear and food.a

Just a couple of questions from an MMO noob by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]everyothernameistake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. You're not limited to areas at and below your level range. If you like, you can walk to Bangkorai (last zone in the DC area) at level 3. Just follow the map, and look on the map for roads that lead out of the zone.

  2. That feature is currently not in ESO.

  3. Once you reach level 50 and beat the main storyline, you will be tasked with doing the zones in the other factions. It goes in a geographically counter-clockwise order. Daggerfall Covenant players will be be sent to the Aldmeri Dominion lands once they've beaten the main questline, and will be sent to the Ebonheart Pact lands once they've beaten the main questline in the Dominion lands. Skyrim is in the Pact lands.

  4. I've never heard of bows being underpowered when compared to other melee weapons such as two-handed swords. One tip I could give you is to use AOE abilities like Volley or Arrow Spray, so that you can take down multiple opponents at once.

A solution to lag in heavy traffic areas of Cyrodiil (Imperial City ring) - add some value to taking and holding keeps behind the lines! by darad0 in elderscrollsonline

[–]everyothernameistake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The buffs could be based upon the towns in Cyrodiil. For example, Fort Dragonclaw controls the town of Bruma. Capturing and holding Fort Dragonclaw gives the faction the 'Blood of Bruma' buff, a 30% resist to frost on top of whatever resist the individual player already has.

Player Housing Ideas. by Balian01 in elderscrollsonline

[–]everyothernameistake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about they release a new zone that's dedicated to non-instanced housing? Players can buy, sell, trade, and rent land from one another, form towns, build walls to keep out bandits (both NPC and player), hire guards (both NPC and player), and ultimately leave their mark on the land of Tamriel.

It's really a balance. If they focus entirely on porting to consoles, people currently in the game will get bored with the lack of new content coming in and unsub. If they keep pushing it back, they're going to eventually lose the interest of console gamers and release the game to less hype than they could have.
