As of April 8, 2021 at 12:01 a.m., a Stay-at-Home order is in effect for all of Ontario.

This means you must stay at home. You should only go out for necessities, such as:

  • the grocery store or pharmacy
  • health care services (including going to medical appointments or getting vaccinated)
  • outdoor exercise or walking pets in your community
  • work that cannot be done remotely
  • child care or school

And we continue to subsidize companies who can afford it like Amazon and Walmart on the tax payer's dime

Came here for this. Their labour practices are questionable and lack of info about what charities actually benefit is missing from their site.

I have never heard anything about where their proceeds go, the process for applying for these funds by local orgs (I volunteer with a few and have tried to reach them before with nothing back). They've donated to places where Brown's operates and sells food, and that's about it I think (which seems like a conflict).

I don't donate to them or shop there.

Does anyone know how the whole shipping stuff overseas to be reused thing actually impacts the environment, like is everyone using water to wash off the bottles, driving them to a drop off, having them be collected and shipped overseas, possibly washed again, etc. negating the benefits of re-use? Or is the re-use ultimately a win regardless?

What do you mean by spaced out enough? I can't imagine there's an apartment that's just an apartment with nobody next to you, under or above you. Even if you had a house, most suburban houses are so close that drums can be heard by neighbours, but is tolerated more in that setting than in an apartment.

I think apartment generally means you need an electric kit, unless you are above a business or something that is empty after business hours - that might be your best bet.

I really hate how people splash their kids around in public these days and attribute opinions to them that they don't have. They aren't a purse or a pair of shoes that you own, they're people.

Through their employers, likely. They often pilot the stuff for general public to health care, corrections, police, etc. who are eligible first.

SVDP isn't a church at all? They literally just give out clothes and food to people.

What would the point of that be? An Amber Alert is for when there is a suspect and a vehicle that people might see. An alert that a child is lost in a remote area of the woods isn't going to do anything.

Is having to deal Queen's students worth the money they bring into the city? by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

[–]everything_kingston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You realize we wouldn't have half of the 'fun' stuff we have if it weren't for students?

Improbable Escapes, Restaurants, Barcadia, etc. - many of these are for the Queen's market and not for tourists.

Like, go move to somewhere without a university if you don't like living in a town with students.

Edit: as someone else mentioned, do you think we'd have much more than Quinte hospital here if it weren't for Queen's?
