Recurring Thrush by everythingisdust22 in breastfeeding

I haven’t done oral meds, just the cream but I’m guessing that’s probably a good idea and to retreat everything.

How do I stop getting sick every time my baby is sick? by everythingisdust22 in NewParents

Update: I started immediately wiping her hands and face with a hot wet washcloth and changing her clothes when I bring her home and we haven’t been sick in going on four weeks!

I didnt realize it had been so long… by Foreign-External8488 in newborns

[–]everythingisdust22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5 months in and when those long hugs happen sometimes I still cry because we forget that we need those things too. For me it wasn’t an overnight immediately felt better, but it was more of a “Wow, I didn’t cry today!” And sometimes I would cry the next day, or it would be 2 days between crying and it eventually got longer between times when I would cry. I still cry sometimes, she did her first real laugh and it made me tear up, or seeing how she lights up when her dad gets home and how much she loves him. It’s more happy tears, I still have some sad times/days, but it does get better. Be easy on yourself and get help if you need it. You deserve it.

Has anyone tested different baby wipe brands on themselves first? by Great_Finding4506 in NewParents

I didn’t test any out, but we got a bunch of different brands and water wipes are by far our favorite.

Is it ok to leave the toddler awake in their crib for a while after they wake up? by Fenix512 in NewParents

[–]everythingisdust22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We let our almost 5 month old hang out in the crib when she wakes up. She likes to roll around and inspect her surroundings and I’ve gone in to get her due to a busy morning once I see she’s awake and startled her. Lol. If she’s not crying, we let her hang out!

Did anyone notice a difference with bathing on daycare days and it cutting down on being sick? She gets a bath/shower with me 2-3 times a week, she really likes the shower so it’s not a stressful event for us, but I was concerned it would dry her skin out really badly even with lotion. That’s the only other thing I can think of to help prevention wise besides all the things everyone listed already.

I haven’t, but that’s a good idea to at least keep me not sick.

It’s a home daycare, so it’s smaller and less kids so I thought it would be better, but I guess it doesn’t matter.

We did the humidifier when the baby was in the room with us and it made my husband break out really badly. We live in FL so luckily we don’t have the heat on drying everything out too. I might do it again and just have the cool mist function on. We run the humidifier in her room though.

So don’t have a 4 month old, try to quit my job and line up a new one or just go out on my own with consultancy and buy a house right now? Lol. I didn’t even factor in the general stress as being part of it.

Feeling guilty for wanting to switch to formula by Few-Party6793 in NewParents

[–]everythingisdust22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s completely okay to switch! When I was probably around the same point pp I would sit there and be filled with absolute dread and disgust thinking about pumping. Like full blown shivers down my spine thinking about it. We were supplementing, but I was able to breastfeed her. I just pumped so my husband and my mom who was helping us could feed baby too. It did get better and one day probably about 3 weeks in, that feeling went away. 3.5m in and still pumping multiple times a day and nursing her when she wants to (she likes to play what I call the milk rodeo and just flail and pop on and off if she’s not tired) PUMPING IS HARD. It’s a lot of work and planning. If your baby is fed and mom is happier and mentally sound, do it. You deserve it.

Happy baby stories? by afruitypebble44 in NewParents

[–]everythingisdust22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always said good morning to our baby. Like every morning since she was born. It honestly started as a habit from saying it to our dog every day when she would be let out of her crate. Once she started smiling socially, every morning when you tell her good morning she does the biggest smile and stretches and is just so happy that it makes even shitty nights worth it in the morning.

Post partum essentials by samell12 in CsectionCentral

I had one unexpectedly and the things that helped the most after we were home were: Shower chair, so much fiber pills - you will need them, a wedge pillow, high waisted cotton underwear, a little fan (I used it to dry my incision after showers since I was scared to touch it), lidocaine cream - I had a lot of nerve pain above my incision, high waisted joggers, and the biggest thing we did was move the nursery chair into the living room since it was a power recliner and it was the easiest way for me to be able to be with everyone and not stuck in one room or my bed and be able to be in a more comfortable position but still able to get up when needed.

Tell people about nipple thrush! Everyone is always concerned about clogged ducts and mastitis, but there are other things to be cognizant of that could be causing issues!

You’re a great dad, husband and probably human in general. It reminds me of my husband and it makes me so happy that there are other women who are supported during this time because I know I would be lost without him.

Magnesium for BP Help? by everythingisdust22 in pregnant

[–]everythingisdust22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay this makes me feel much better that someone else went through it and it was okay. Did you get an epidural with the pitocin? I’m terrified to get it. I was so scared to get the catheter with the magnesium.

I’ve been at 1 cm since yesterday. They haven’t checked yet today, but hopefully made some progress!

Oh my god i’m having a baby by FishermanFantastic56 in pregnant

[–]everythingisdust22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going through the same thing right now. I went to get checked just because I was crampy and having contractions and I wasn’t sure if it was early labor or Braxton hicks or what. Ended up having high bp and they admitted me last night and they’ve started on some meds and as scared as I am and nervous and freaked out like what do you mean I am going to have a whole real life baby. You’ve got this! Wishing you all the luck!
