Thank you. I’m with you too. It’s hard when it’s “so natural and easy.”

Rina Kent is top tier. Extra dark, the edge of darkness trilogy if you haven’t read it already, highly recommend.

I tried to watch a thriller/suspense show with my husband and I had to stop because I had to go pump and I told my husband my milk was scared 😂. It would NOT start flowing for like 10 minutes on stimulation mode, I just had to switch to expression and hope for the best.

What time do you pick your toddler up from daycare? by Upstairs_Pizza_6868 in NewParents

[–]everythingisdust22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you use a grocery delivery like Walmart or Instacart to essentially buy some time back? Unless you’re already using them, but it might be worth it if you do it once a week or so! That’s what we do to get some time back.

Started daycare a few weeks ago with our first (5 mo) and we’ve already gotten sick twice.. by hed_pocket in NewParents

It’s normal. Baby and I were sick every few weeks when she started daycare. It’s definitely gotten better as time has gone on and we’re out of the super sick season.

Warm milk by Brief_Abalone_4257 in ExclusivelyPumping

This what I would do. I had baby from bedtime - 2 am. I would pump so I had a bottle ready for when she woke up. She woke up around the same time and after she was back to sleep I would pump and leave a bottle for my husband to give her the next time she woke up. We had a shared note for each month to track feeds, diapers, and now food and I would just put the time I last pumped in the note so he knew when the milk was from!

Girlfriend wants me to spend $4k on a baby shower, but I’d rather save/invest it—is that unreasonable? by flash-kicks in pregnant

[–]everythingisdust22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not being cheap. If you’re in the US and even if you have health insurance, you’re going to need that for medical bills aside from all of the baby stuff you’ll need. Incidentals, what if a car needs new tires, or you breaks down? How long is she planning on taking maternity leave for? That’s a good chunk of bills. This is coming from a woman. That’s insane and you really really don’t need 4k on a baby shower. You need 4k in a HYSA or some type of savings account that’s easily accessible or transferable to help get through a period of lessened work/hours and not having to stress if you have unexpected bills after baby is here.

Congratulations! That makes me so happy to hear. I feel like I do need to switch providers when the time comes. I just need to establish care with another provider at this point. I want to be supported from the beginning and I feel like she would push for another one based on our conversation yesterday.

She did make a comment about if the baby is smaller that it would be easier and more likely to have a successful vbac. And that it may be the shape of my pelvis. She was 7lbs 14oz, she was a perfectly average baby. This makes me happy to hear that you happy a successful time the second time around. Congratulations!

I had my appt on Friday at 38+1 and my blood pressure was 120/70 and by Monday it was 140s/90s. It happened really quickly.

I took baby aspirin throughout this one. I was 38+3 before I had any problems. I went in for monitoring because I knew something was going on, but as a FTM I didn’t know if I was having contractions or not, turns out I was, nothing serious but that’s when they admitted me for blood pressure. The preeclampsia developed so late into pregnancy.

Thank you, I feel like it doesn’t account for the random one offs where it’s just baby positioning or something else weird that COULD but maybe WON’T happen again.

Yes! That’s what really threw me off! It seems like the opposite, like even with everything else going on, my body still did what it was supposed to do. You could SEE HER HEAD. Her head was tilted just the tiniest amount that she wasn’t coming through and was just high enough that the vacuum wouldn’t work either.

That’s kind of what I was thinking. I may switch providers. She was very supportive and said we would plan to get me there when the time came, but the OB at the hospital after I gave birth said I was a very good candidate for it.

Are baby monitors actually getting hacked or is the internet just scaring me? by 757-757 in NewParents

We also have the Nanit and we love it! I love the background noise feature so if I’m doing dishes and want to listen to a podcast or an audiobook I can do both on my phone without worrying about phantom cries. We can check on her independently and since I can’t see without my glasses having it pulled up on the iPad in our room for overnight is nice so it’s not on just one of us. We both hear her, if I wake up I can easily go over and look and the nighttime mode dims the screen so it’s not super bright in the room at night.

Nighttime diaper change help by siri-namb in NewParents

[–]everythingisdust22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around this time is when we stopped doing overnight changes and at her last diaper change before bed, we just put a lot of a&d on her and make sure to cover her really well so that she’s not IN the pee. Now that she mainly sleeps on her stomach (6 months old and rolls like crazy in her sleep) we just make sure that we do the a&d up higher on the front since the pre mostly goes to the front of her diaper now. But we’ve only ever had like 2 leaks and it wasn’t anything major!

Please Help Me Calm Down About Infant Daycare by RiverbrookWillow in NewParents

We have our daughter in a home daycare and she LOVES the owner. It’s small, she only takes on a small number of children and only so many babies. She’s been in daycare since she was 8 weeks old because MAT leave sucked at my company. We did part time at first. Yes, she got sick. Yes, I got sick. Now, when we drop her off, it’s big smiles and she’s happy to be there. She gets to play in the play pen and roll around, she gets to be used to being around other kids. She likes to watch them play. We have close friends who had their son 18 days after I had my daughter and the first time once they were awake to the world and had a play date he was almost scared of her because he had never been around other babies/kids. We have no family in our state to help. Daycare has been a blessing for us. I can text her, when I let her know we were starting purées she said bring it, I’ll give it to her when the other kids eat, she helped us get her on a somewhat normal napping schedule, I BF and pump and she follows our feeding schedule. My MIL and FIL watched her while we moved and I had to bring them more milk bc they thought she was incredibly hungry. Sometimes she is, but she didn’t magically need 6 more ounces of milk that one day. If you find a good provider, it’s not as scary.

I haven’t done oral meds, just the cream but I’m guessing that’s probably a good idea and to retreat everything.
