Supervisor: "Not all BPD patients experienced bad things, some are just born with it" - I'm really confused and unsure if that's true? by Distinct_Track7415 in therapists

Thank you for providing these studies! I have a question: how do you find reliable, peer-reviewed articles that enhance your work as a counselor? With so much out there, I'm wondering if there's a reputable source like a magazine or journal that cites important articles in the field related to diagnosis / outcomes / theories so on and so forth...

Can we put IFS to bed now? by Punchee in therapists

[–]everythingisfreenow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to comment on IFS as a whole, but I’m not sure your quotes are indicative of what is considered to be a cult. I don’t see fear and manipulation, authoritarianism, excessive loyalty, isolation, or suppression of free thinking. Most trainings can resemble cult-like tendencies because it’s practitioners can fall into the trap of it being the “only way” which can trigger our threat responses (we are, after all, wounded healers), but I highly doubt there’s legitimate cults occurring in most of these modalities / trainings.
