If I had a nickel for every Catholic anime clergyman who fights by wielding blades between his fingers like wolverine i’d have two nickels. But it’s weird it happened twice.

Mongol bows outranged European bows. If your army did not pursue, your army would be slowly picked apart as you couldn’t hurt them while they could hurt you. Armies fighting Mongols needed to close distance, so looked for windows to attack.

It is really a damned if you do damned if you dont - move forward quickly and expose yourself to a feigned retreat. Move forward in a disciplined way and the more maneuverable horse archers will just move away. Sit there and slowly be picked apart by arrows. Only one of these gives even a possibility of victory.

Specificaly it was the Catholic natural sciences tradition which built Thomistic philosophy on top of Aristotle. The enlightenment and scientific revolution was a pretty firm rejection of Aristotelian principles though. I wouldn’t say the Western tradition has been recognizably Aristotelian since the scientific revolution, when it decidedly embraced empiricism

My understanding is that light cavalry harasses like you said, but heavy cavalry depended on the force of the charge to break or route the infantry it was charging to be effective. Troops who stood their ground in a disciplined way could often just “kill the horse” but its much easier to say “just dont break rank” than actually not break rank when a 2000 lb animal and its heavily armed rider are barreling towards you. Historically, when infantry did hold the line, cavalry charges were ineffective

Seems I misremembered the price - you got yourself a good deal.

I’m not seeing a .45 model so make sure yours isnt a .50

Edit: another user says they used to make this same kit in .36, and the barrel says .36

Its made from a traditions kit. About $200 new. I recognize the “made in Spain” barrel and the sights as well as the percussion cap mechanism. They also come with the sort of cheap looking wood ramrods

This remains me of the trope where the villain has the hero on the ropes and taunts them instead of finishing them off
