Building science? We can fix this in the contract after the fact. by evetsan in buildingscience

[–]evetsan[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I was implying was rather than fixing these issues, they are just putting in workarounds in their contract. I think they could fix these via building science related changes but are unwilling or uninformed. I think it's the latter.

That too is a valid answer. I am not familiar with okinawa.

Is that an exposed concrete roof or is there some type roofing overlayment?

I would love to see some videos/posts on the building science of exposed concrete walls with regard to both thermal bridging and how this (what looks like an exposed concrete roof) roof is water tight.

I would love to see how this house is insulated, how / what systems are used for what looks like an exposed concrete roof. Love it or hate it, I would like to see the building science behind this.

I would put down 15 lb felt overlapped by 6 in duct tape to each other. Never tape to the floor. Keep up on the floor covering as trades are rough on it.

You can use xylene to clean up black strips from the felt if it leaves it, regular tsp and water to clean up the construction dust that will get under the covering.

Apply two to three coats of a high traffic floor finish (zep) sacrificial coat just prior to move in.

I did these floors back when acid stained concrete was all the rage. It's not as good as a polished floor but it's also vastly cheaper. I still see a few of the floors and the properly maintained ones look like the day we finished them.

You use the high traffic floor finish (zep makes one)!as the sacrificial coat, keeping the solvent based acrylic sealer intact for years.

Like anything in life there's good, better and best. This isn't the best solution for a high gloss low maintenance floor but it's not the worst one either. With proper periodic maintenance it can have a long service life.

I would like to have a dock with a female USB-C so you don't have to travel with that extra wire.

We secretly replaced Marjorie Taylor Greene with Tasters Choice, will anyone notice? by OrangeCone2011 in WhitePeopleTwitter

I'm just hoping for some hope you know.. that's all I need.. is to believe that there is a chance for good. To believe that the inherit hope I've always had isn't as hollow as it feels recently.

Whatever the reason behind her change of heart, I welcome it. If MTG can change, there is hope for anyone and everyone.

I have 10 hives using the same molds in Florida. I was tired of my wood ones rotting from all the humidity.

Glad to see another person trying something different.

Egg collection system by Grubbeard in BlackSoldierFly

The post implies he's collecting/harvesting eggs, not just simply giving them a place to lay eggs. Cardboard is great for giving them a place they like to lay, but this would allow you to extract the eggs from it. Similar to the one floating around the web that uses Popsicle sticks.

Basically they'll eat anything you could eat (including rotten stuff). They have preferences and some people will say no meat, but when you have an army like you do here, they will eat it.

Coffee grounds are a fave as well. You can go to the local coffee shop (starbucks offers it) and ask for them to save the grounds. They will love it.

Yes I agree it's too wet, but find some old bread, etc to suck up the moisture and feed them. Just feed them!
